Question Callaway HX RED 3 piece Vs HX Tour Vs HX tour 56

Hi guys.

Has anyone compared all 3?

...I'm after extra distance
...Soft Feel around the greens
..more of a penetrating ball flight
..a ball that holds great in windy conditions

Which ball will meet all 4 points better?

Any ideas guys?

I've used Callaway balls almost exclusively for the past two seasons and have played all 3 balls. My personal preference is the HX Tour.

Red HX is a good ball, but I find the HX Tour to be a bit longer and better in the wind.

HX Tour 56 is a great ball with excellent feel and distance comparable to HX Tour. However, the durability is horrible.

I have used the HX hot and the distance is good but a rock around the greens. But my main complaint is that the cover scuffs after any kind of decent wedge is put on it. Are all Callaways like this or is it unique to the Hot?

Sorry if this hijacks the thread

I have used all three for sure. I use Callaway product as much as possible. To be honest any of these three will do the job and I doubt I could ever tell the difference between them if they were unmarked. They go far, all bite, will take a cart path bounce. Try each one out. Just buy a sleeve of each before you go for the dozen!!!

HX Tour over Red for extra distance. Has a more durable cover as well.
Redesigned "hex"'s for penetration as well. Softer around greens.

HX Tour will go further than 56, but 56 will be softer and play higher spin than the HX Tour.

As with the Blue (soft cover), the 56 cover was made to play soft around the greens, so durability is what you would expect.

Oh, and the HX Blue will be the softest and the HX HOT will travel the furthest!!!!

Hope that helps.

HX Tour is a great all around ball. Played in windy conditions today (15-20mph) and the HX Tour held really nicely into the wind. Hit one smooth 3 wood 241 from the tee into the teeth of the wind. Backed up one wedge about 4 feet on one green and of course scuffed another ball with a full wedge from the fairway 115 out. Durability is poor. I go through three or four balls a round just from impact abrasions and scuffing. One thing I have noticed that really impresses me is that this ball doesn't balloon like others. I hit a high ball and even today the HX Tour didn't get away from me. Nice ball. Seems to listen more than other balls too.

It really is a sucess story how quickly Callaway has become number 2 in the premium market for PGA tour count.

It was only what, 5 or 6 years ago when the Rule 35 came out. It was also a very good ball.

Even their Warbird is a cut above Pinnace and Topflight. Our clubs driving range uses Topflites, Warbirds and some Pinnacles. The Warbirds are in much better condition than the others.
