I've played the MX-17's and I really liked them. They are easily my favorite of the cast OEM Game Improvement irons that I have tried (Big Bertha 2004's, TM RAC OS, Clev. TA6, Cobra 3100's[these are a close 2nd], Nike Slingshot, Ping G2). The MX-17's are very easy to hit high and straight, even the 3 and 4 irons. The only reason that I'm playing the MX-23's instead of the MX-17's is because of the sweet soft feel of the forged clubhead on solid strikes. The MX-17's don't feel bad to me, just different and I really liked the sensation they give on well struck shots. They feel extremely stable and sweetspot hits are very firm and solid feeling, similar IMO to well hit shots with Ping ISI's that I used to own, but the MX-17 sweetspot seems much larger. Another analogy that comes to mind is a really well struck shot with a smaller steel headed fairway wood, a quick firm feel that lets you know you've hit the ball hard. Hope that helps a bit, and I can say with certainty that if I don't get along well with my new 23's I'd happily acquire another set of the 17's.
