The new Bobby Jones driver, by Jesse Ortiz - Cracked after 1 round!
Has anyone else tried this driver? I went to the range with it a couple of times, played one round, then noticed a hair-line crack where face meets crown. I had this happen before with an Orlimar (Jesse Ortiz) club, so I sent an email to bobbyjonesgolf asking about this problem, but have not heard anything back from them (this occurred about 3 weeks ago).
I sent an email to TGW to ask about a replacement, and they said it'll take about 2 months to get anything done!!! I have to PAY to ship it back to them, then they'll send it to the manufacturer, who'll evaluate the problem, then decide what they'll do to compensate me! Um, yeah, right. I just put the Taylormade right back in the bag and chalked this up to a bad experience.
As a side issue, is this kind of nonsense normal for internet stores? I mean, 2 months without a driver (if I hadn't kept the old one), that's shear lunacy!
insted of losing the $$$ you spent on that bobbyjones driver, i think you should send it back...since you already have the old one, all you have to lose is the shipping. none the less, that's a ****situation...i've never been through somthing like that, but i can imagine that must ****...sorry.

We usually have replacements back to the customer within a week. Sometimes will the manufactor give us a hard time about replacing the item but most of the time its confirmed replacement and we take out of our inventory and ship immediately.
That's good customer service Christian. Thanks for taking care of us. Callaway also follows suit. Never needed them , never heard a bad word about them and as many clubs as they sell that's saying A LOT!
Thanks for the replies. I was losing my mind, thinking that maybe all online retailers are this way and that I should stick to brick-and-mortar stores for anything but balls, gloves and tees!
Here's the cookie-cutter response I got from Kristen Loffland at TGW -
"Dear TGW Customer,
Thank you for shopping with the Golf Warehouse. Unfortunately this is our policy as you have used the club. Our Waranty information, as well as our returns policy is stated on our site. If you had not hit the club we could pick up the club as a defective item, and have made an exchange, but because the item has been used and is cracked it falls under a warranty claim."
- like it's my fault and I should've read the fine-print - it never occurred to me that a "golf" website would have such a penal return policy. I'll send it back - it's not so much the shipping cost which irks, it's the 8 weeks (4-6 at the manufacturer, two weeks from me sending it to TGW and them shipping it to the manufacturer) it takes to resolve!
Well, thanks TGW, and thanks too, I suppose, Bobby Jones Golf...
Ive cracked the face on about 3 different models of Callaway drivers and was told that hitting a multitude of range balls creates alot of stress on the driver face particularly since range balls are pretty hard. None the less, Callaway was good about replacing them. Now that the drivers of today have much thinner faces, I have a "face crack" phobia and refrain from hitting too many balls at the range especially with todays driver prices.
I had a great experience with Titleist. My 975LFE cracked on the sole where the face weld is and I took it back to The Pro Shop ( a major golf retailer in SA). The salesman phoned Titleist and was told to replace it, at no charge to me, with the brand new 983K. Total time elapsed - 20 minutes, no hassle, no quibble.
I was prepared to buy a new club since I was leaving to play in a tournament the next day.
Even though I don't have a Titleist in the bag anymore when I find another that I'm in love with I won't hesitate to buy it.
Interestingly enough you'd think that TGW has enough muscle with OEM's to use their discretion.

you guys are lucky to have great callaway service.
I called Callaway here cause I wanted a reshaft of my original '93 heavenwood, but they turned me down, in a rather rude manner, and said that they will only resahft using their own shaft.
Fine, I said, as long as I get a stiff shaft in it. Cost? $200. It wasn't a TP shaft..it was an RCH 96, an old model, I presume. **** Callaway outside of the states.
p.s. sorry to hijack your thread.. :):)
