I am currently putting with an odyssey dual force rossie II but can get a good deal on a brand new yes tracy II model. Will this putter make a difference? I also like the feel of blade putters. If someone could list some positives or negatives of blade putters to mallet style putters. Thank you for the help.
there are really no positives and negatives, its all just personal preference and feel. the mallet puts more oomph on the ball so you will have to get used to being slightly more aggressive if you go to a blade. i just had to make the switch to a blade from a mallet and i have no complaints. the blade is much nicer for really fast greens in my opinion.
I've been using a DFX 1100 over the past 9 months or so & I've yet to decide which camp it falls into.
I do have a Ram Z1 putter & it seems to be good for really long putting & still love an old blade putter for close in accuracy. My Odysy DFX1100 seems to split the gap, although I now wish I'd gone for the softer white face version.
I traded putters in my bag last year about 10 times, both mallets and blades alike, 10 made the bag and I tried probably another 30 on the course or putting green last year. I had a REALLY good run with a 6.4K gt bobby grace mid summer, it was the best putter I ever had, easy to line up and even easier to putt with, till my Scotty came around. I got the Newport beach in a trade..EVEN UP for my GT, which I couldnt pass up once offered the trade. It was a big change but all for the better, the putter just feels better in my hands both during setup and when striking a ball, that is the most important aspect of the putter.
If you get a chance, hit the Tracy first, get it on a challenging practice green and put it to the test, otherwise you will be in for some struggles at first and usually when you put yourself into an "only option" phase, you tend to struggle more than you would if you had a backup plan, or tested at length before committing to making the putter your #1.
It depends on your stroke. If you allow the club to release....ie...the toe to turn over in the follow thru I would go with a blade. If you keep the putter square throught out the swing I would go with a mallet.
^^^Good Point. I had a mallet that I always missed to the right. When I switched to a blade last year they all started going straighter and going in more. Less misses to the right side of the hole.

Yea I play a blade because I release my putter on the follow thru. When I tried a mallet I missed a bunch too. I had to keep the face square and I did not want to change my putting stroke so I stuck with a blade.

Interesting I might just dust off my old blade putter, though I have been hankering after a scotty for some time so maybe I'll use it as an excuse to treat myself.
I had a cheapo mallet that always felt awkward, like I couldn't finesse the swing speed. I switched to a blade and it was much more comfortable, I felt in control of the putter head. I love my Daytona that I just bought, but I do miss some of the visual aids from the bigger putters.
