Shorter Length Drive Shaft

Has anyone had any luck with a shorter driver shaft? I noticed alot of the tour guys use 44 inch shafts instead of the standard 45? Any thoughts.

Yeah I also noticed that. Mickleson has 44.5 inch and a 45.75 inch drivers in his bag I believe. I'm also curious as to what it does for your swing. Also isn't 46 inches standard length?

45" is standard for most companies, I carry 2 totally different setups around the course, one 44" driver set up for "playability" which gets used the most, and another at 48" that I use for those wide open long par 5's where hitting the ball 320+ wont get me into trouble.

Personally I love my 44" and if I wasnt so tall, I would consider cutting it down even more, but at 6'6" it would get uncomfortable going too much more. Experiment with it, you wont know till you try.

Hi all know I have been away for a bit but had to comment on this topic. I have done many launch monitor fittings and golfers are overwhelmingly playing with drivers which are way to long for them. If your swing is outside in the longer the club you get the worst the results will be. I personally went to 43.75" this season I now hit everything with a draw and have not lost any distance, in fact I am hitting it longer.

44.5" just feels right for me.
