Improving distance?

I really need to improve my distance. I just started playing golf last summer. I have a set of Ladies Wilson Advantage X3. I hear so much about the 460cc. And the large sweet spot. Would one of these help improve my distance?
I am also working on building my muscles to help improve my distance.

The watermelons on a stick offer more forgiveness. That being said, if you tend to mis-hit with the driver, then yes you will notice an increase in distance on those. However, if you hit the sweetspot, the big headed club will not be any longer then the smaller headed club, unless there is a significant difference in the shafts between the two clubs. The proper shaft for your swing is the real key to increasing distance and accuracy, this applies to all clubs. I hope this helps, and welcome to the site!

sometimes people with slower swing speeds might see more distance with smaller headed Ti Clubs. 360 to 420 range, rather than a full 460. Though this doesn't take into account the added confusion of shafts.

Try a 3 wood & a long iron replacement hybrid next to your driver & see if there is a noticeable difference in distance or not.

Something I've noticed is that the larger the head the more inertia there is to overcome in the form of air resistance. I mean its all very well having a powerful juggernaut if the air resistance is going to slow it down when the same engine can easily power a sleep F1 car, if you see the analogy

I think this is why Manufacturers like Nike have started squashing down their drivers to cut through the air better.

I noticed that my 460 Ignite actually held me back. There was more room on the clubface to mishit it off center, so I thought I was making good contact but in reality i was losing distance because of hits off the heel. I just picked up a new R7 which is only 60 ccs less but the clubface size feels much smaller so there is less room to mishit it. I now am dwarfing my old distances by 20 yards easily.
