I Went to a Pro-Shop today to buy myself a club, and the guy working there told me the top 4 Golf Balls out, recently released by the PGA after all of the testing they did on the balls.
1. Nike One Black Golf Balls
2. Nike Distance Golf Balls
3. Callaway HX Tour Golf Balls
4. Titleist ProV1 Golf Balls
i've landed on the Nike One Black and Callaway HX Tour 56 after playing nearly every golf ball imaginable over the past 2 years. haven't tried the Nike Distance ball.... but i don't really care for distance balls.

whats your guys take, or do you use these?
This was taken off the Consumer Report rating, wasn't it? Not sure about the #2... I've played the Black, and like it more than the Platinum, so that's fine... the HX Tour is pretty generously rated here in my opinion. A Nike Distance ball at #2, though (I believe it was the Super Soft, specifically) - I really dislike this ball.... can't see why it's rated so high. Not much feel, and doesn't spin very well... and distance is no better than any rock-flight on the market.... They say it's a great price for the performance of the ball... yet the Volvik Crystal is the same price, and a much better all-round ball. I doubt I'd be willing to buy those Nike's, despite the supposed "great performance".... I sense some brand-pushing here.... .
well i wouldnt lie about something like this.. i have no use lying.. i just went in a pro-shop and heard this.. now the nike one blacks are the most expensive so he could of been feeding me with ****, but im going by what he said

The pro shop is just feeding you the Consumer Report Ball Rating.... (see link in post #6).... as I said before, there's definitely some brand-pushing going on here, given my experiences with the Power Distance series.

^^ ive played the distance balls a couple times.. i agree i wouldnt rate them 2nd at all.. personally i think the pro v1's should of been 1st because of the spin, but if those are the tests
I subscribe to CR and I've read the article, it's very thorough (4 pages long) and they describe in great detail how they reached their conclusions so golfers can judge for themselves what if any intangibles were left out. They only tested 25 balls from the top ten golf ball manufacturers = no Srixon balls were tested. The chart in the above post is geared toward recreational golfers with average SS (Driver = 90 MPH and commensurate 8 iron SS), they point out that most higher handicap average SS players will not experience the benefits of premium 3 and 4 piece balls. They also ran tests at driver SS of 110 and higher 8 iron SS, and for experts and top amateurs the recommended balls were 1) Nike One Black 2) Callaway HX Tour 56 3) Pro V1. For top players they found that the Pro V1 feels the softest.
Too bad they couldn't have tested the new HX Tour balls. I liked the previous HX balls but they took this newest HX to the next level. You want soft with distance? New HX Tour baby! Scha---weeet!
Yeah if i were looking for a distance ball that is pro quality than i would go with the HX tour but if i wanted a real real real spin producing ball then i would go with the Pro V1x because that is basically what they are built around.

the pro V1X is a lower spin ball than the pro V1 and the HX tour is a lower spin ball than the tour 56...
