X-18 or ????

Looking for some feedback on new iron sets. I am in the market for new irons. Looking at a few X-18, Slingshot Tour. I am a 16 handicap player and was playing the Nike Pro Combo OS last season and struggling with them a bit, looking for something with more forgiveness.

I just got the CG4's from Cleveland. They hit very straight and are set for distance. I also liked the LP Launcher but the CG4's were worth the difference in price to me (also I got a free wedge).

If you are a Nike fan, the NDS is a sleeper club you should try. It hits very similar to the Pro Combo without the headaches. I just went to a demo day so this stuff is still fresh in my mind.

I personally shy away from the X-18 and Nike OSS's for the high bounce. Here in Illinois the ground get so hard in the summer it is difficult to get under the ball. This is my personal preference so take it for what it is worth. X-18's are quality club. Good luck your choice will no doubt find what you want. Demo days are great and plentiful at this time of the year, so keep an eye out and hit them all outside before you decide.

I tried the Vulcan Golf....

forged irons with graphite shafts at a demo day a couple of weeks ago and liked them so much that I ordered a set. I received them last week, took them to the driving range twice over the weekend and found them easier to hit (and more consistent) then the Titleist 762s I was playing.

I would take a long look at the Innovex RLS Irons... I like their shafts so much better and the feel is really so much better than the X-18's. Great clubs !! I chose them over the Cally's

x18

just demo the x18 and cobra 3100 's side by side today . If you want forgiveness the cobra are clearly easier for ME to hit , at least a club longer,
and much less expensive than the x18 .
Having said that I didn't order the cobras I was a little put off with the look of the thick top line of them.
I ended up ordering the new titleist 775's their specs are very simliar to the 3100's only with a thinner top line..
good luck gb
