Hey everybody, I am looking to purchase the 905 with the Speeder shaft and a 8.5 degree, but I am not sure the difference between the three letters T, R, or S. Can anyone offer me an explanation of the three? I figure that it has to be the postion of the CG, but am not sure. Also has anyone hit the V2 shaft, and if so how was it? Thanks for all the help.
The R is the big boy (460cc), the T and S are a generation back and are only about 400cc. My impression is that the R is basically a bigger better T while the S remains a deeper faced club promoting less spin and a lower ball flight.
Just ensure your swing is up to a speeder, they tend to play stiff and need somewhat more loading than some of the other options.
I had the 905T and did not like it at all. I'm now playing a 11.5 905R V275 stiff and its a great club. I would not compare it to the T as it play different in all aspects. I have not tried the S, but you can't go wrong with the R. Great club.
I have the 905 S in 9.5 degree with Titleist Speeder shaft in stiff flex. I hit it a ton and it is very accurate. I tried the T and it balooned more and did not go as far for me. The R seems too big for me and looks more like a big T. The S is the longest and straightest driver I have ever hit.
The "T" is an awesome stick. Can make it go high or low, draw it or fade it, and the ball goes for forever. Oh yeah, I've got a 9.5 with the Fuji Tour Platform. Really nice combo. One thing I'd recommend is to maybe go 1* or so higher if you get the S... due to the lower launch...
i use to own both the t and s. the t was 9.5 with speeder very nice club, its face is both wider and skinner than that of the s, my s was 9.5 with the exact same shaft. The s face is bulkier and fatter and taller... Both clubs play very well. the s does go further maybe 5 yards 10 topps... this is because of the shot trajectory...both have a nice feel and set up nice at address. the sound when well struck sounds like a muffled thud. This may take some time getting use to, if you have been playing anything besides titleist drivers. i like the sound however, its reassuring to me! I have yet to hit the r, its soo big tho, i dont care for the 460 cc models out there, i have hit almost every single 460 besides this one, they dont set-up right for me... titleist is a good company and i play lots of their products, but I sincerely believe that taylormade makes better drivers...
I have two friends who own the T and they are able to carry it so much further than any other driver. The best out of the three would have to be the T based on what other people have said and what my friends think of the driver. I like the R7 personally just because you can do so much more with it.
