shafts or heads or both?

hello all, i have a cobra sz400 with a graf blue 45" stiff shaft and can't seem to find a fairway. ss 110mph. the other day i tried a titleist 905 s with a v2 46'' stiff and was long and straight!!! i'm thinking it's the shaft.anyone have experience with these shafts? i know the cobra is closed face, but would that cause a spraying problem? thanks in advance for any input....

it very well could be the shaft, every shaft is different, even the same brand, you may need to have the shaft spined aligned (pured) because it sounds like the shaft isn't flexing consistantly.

Probably the shaft. The V2 is known to be a fairway hitter shaft.

Could be the driver though. Do you hook/draw the ball a lot? Because the Cobras closed face could hurt you if you do. The Titleist has a square face so it sounds reasonable that you hit it straight.

the ball shaping is funny; if i choke down an inch or so i hit hooks. if i grip at the end i hit pushes. could that be too much shaft lag?

The blue plays stiffer and the V2 has a softer tip. That said conventional wisdom would say that the stiffer shaft will play straighter but not as long. Yet your hitting a 905 that has a bore thru hosel making the V2 play a flex stiffer. So your really hitting a X-flex V2.....which would make sense with your swing speed. So yet you need a new shaft in a X-flex.

Try a stiffer shaft, like Scott said. Also have the shaft spined. You may be having too much oscillation in the shaft, rather than a linear movement.
