the american classic are designs from the early days of golf, they look like putt-putt putters that u get to use for free when u pay...they only thing nice about them is they say scotty...dont waste your money here.
Think what you want, but my buddy bought one of those expensive 2 ball putters because everyone has one. All I got to say is...he's a lemming. I kick his *** in putting all the time with my $30 putter. Now he hates his putter and bought a cheap TopFlite that he putts better with. I am not gonna be one of those suckers who buys Scotty Cameron stuff. He claims that his putters are the best yet they feel the same as any putter out there! And his putter head covers are $50! ***? What is so special about his putters? It's not just SC putters, but all putters that are over $100. If you can good stuff for cheap, all the power to you. But golf equipment doesn't need to be that expensive. My whole set costs less than $500. All I'm saying is that just because it's super expensive and has some dude's name on it, doesn't make it better. Oh by the way, just because Wilson hasn't been the only name in golf for a long time. Doesn't make them any less of a brand.

Reason: inappropriate language
It's not the putter......
But we've all heard that before right?
Try going to Golf Galaxy or somewhere similiar and try all the putters. I did that one Saturday, and I settled on a 2ball blade because I LIKED it. I certainly could have gotten a more expensive putter (or a cheaper one), but you should get what you feel comfortable with and with what gives you the most confidence.
Today I went looking at Scottys' putters & must say I was impressed by the circa 62 putters, in particular the #3 version. which felt wonderfull to use. the leather grip was something else. Felt so steady & sure holding one of these. Its probably the only putter I'd bother to take my glove off to actually use.
Though I did notice in the three places I found the Circa 62's today there was a wide variance in price from £159 up to £189. Which is a big difference.
The shop where I wanted to try a few of them & where I know I would normally get a good deal had actually almost completely run out & they only had a #5 left, which was OK, but I've got a semi mallet & don't need another. A nicely weighted blade is what I was harking after. so will wait till next week when they are due a delivery.

I have to admit I lean towards VJCouples way of thinking. What makes the SC putters worth so much more than others? I was in Edwin Watts today and tried several two-ball, mallets, blades, etc. from Odyssey, Yes, and a few I can't remember. Tried standard and belly putters. None felt as sure and solid in my hands as the Adamsgolf belly putter I bought for $30 from a "Play it Again Sports" store. In fact, they felt about the same as the $25 KMart special I was using before the belly putter!
The only ones I really liked were called "the Heavy Putter", and rightly so! But I think it was over $200! I can get some lead tape added to my current putter for the same effect! I don't think they had a putter in there less than $100. Why should a quality putter cost that much?
I guess it's the same mentality that makes some folks choose Tupperware over Rubbermaid, and a Lincoln Mark LT truck over a fully loaded Ford F-150. It costs more, so it MUST be better!
poncho+++if u really want to spend the money on a scotty i would reccommend the newport 2 stainless. good solid feel and great looks...thats really the only blade i like...yes golf makes good putters i have never tried the sophia outside of a gold store...i use to play a yes gold victoria and i liked it. but my itrax i trust and love and will not play anything else at the moment..best of luck in your quest to find the right putter for you!
