Hybrid Advice . . .

One of the weaker parts of my game is the shot after the drive, when I'm 180-250 yards out.

Long irons and fairway woods aren't good for me in the fairway or the rough, so I'm looking for a hybrid or hybrids that can do the trick.

I hit my 6-iron about 175 yards, but Mizuno Sures are a little long, so I'm not sure what lofts to consider.

The Ben Hogan CFT Ti looks good and reviewed well in Golf Magazine. One of several lofts just might do the trick – the 17°, 19°, or 21°.

One thing that most people are not told or is mentioned is shaft choice for a hybrid. I read an article that stated since a hybrid is to replace an iron, then the shaft should be the same (steel in the long iron - steel in the hybrid). It went on to say that if you replace your long steel shafted irons with a graphite shafted hybrid there will be a more noticeable gap in the distance from say a 3h to a 4 iron since the graphite shaft is longer. Assuming the lofts are the same in the change, this can be true. I don't know how true this is since I don't play a hybrid (yet). It does seem to make sense. But then again, the distance factor may only be a few yards, which for 95% of us, probably does not even matter.

go and hit as many as you can, thats the one and only way to see which one works for you. I bought one anit is exiled from my bag, hit my 3 iron way better.

My Dad has the Wilson dh6, and it's pretty awesome. I have a Rescue Dual, and it's good, but I wouldn't recommend the steel shaft, makes the rescue dual kinda heavy.

I disagree with that whole steel shaft thing drstroud said. I find graphite seems to work better in some hybrids. The cleveland halos seem really good too.

Well, I'm puzzled a bit about shafts; I do like shorter-length shafts, so steel appeals to me.

Also, any other hybrid recommendations?

your about the same range as i am, 21* will put you at about 195 to 205 yards.

I like my hybrids a lot, also, there are new NIKE Slingshot hybrids that could be even better...

Like drstroud said, I have a 26 hybrid, same loft as my 5 iron, (steel shafts on my irons), only half an inch longer graphite shaft, still more distance than the iron...

I can hit my 5-iron 190, but it's not very accurate, and I can't always hit it cleanly.

Would a good hybrid be more accurate, and consistent?

Maybe a 19º would be better.

A 5 iron is around 26, a 19 would be almost between a 2 and a 3 iron...

oops, maybe a 19º would be too long for me, and too hard to hit.
