Please explain the "Pinseeker" f/x from Bushnell

Is this a mode that makes it easier to zoom in on the flag? Is it worth the extra $$$ over the Yardage Pro model? How about the Slope function...is it worth the $$$? Thanks and apologies in advance for another laser rangefinder question

I just got the pinseeker two weeks ago and have only used it for one round. I have problems judging distance so it definitely helped from 100 yards in. I was actually able to hit a couple of wedges close to the pin because I didn't overestimate the distance with the slope. I love it so far. I have been playing around with it at the range and from my apartment terrace.

What you get with the Pinseeker is a more powerful laser, one that will make it possible to get a reading to a flag from longer yardage. I have a Yardage Pro 500, and the best it is good for is about 200 yards. The Pinseeker will work for at least 250 yards, if not more. What you have to decide is if you "need" that extra power for your game. If you can't hit the ball more than 200 yards with any of your approach shots, you might be fine with the Yardage Pro. As for the slope function, it will make it easier to figure out what club you need when you are playing either up or down hill to the green. But you should know that the slope version of the Pinseeker is not legal in competition, and the normal version is. So if you plan to play in any USGA events that allow a laser to be use during the match, you couldn't use the Pinseeker if it has the slope function build in. If you don't plan to play in any USGA events next month, then the slope version will help you figure out distance, and it's than up to you to figure out if you want to spend the extra money. I also have a laser with the slope function, and I can tell you that it does work and it does help in picking the correct club for the shot. But I can't tell you how much that is worth to "YOU", as I'm not "YOU".

Pinseeker is advertised to find pin out to 600 yards by taking the shortest yardage inside the selection circle that you put place around the flag. My old 7 year old bushnell is supposed to be able to find the distance to the flag to 180 yards, but through practice with my rangefinder I can pick it up at about 240. I can get the edge of a bunker or someone standing on a green at about 280 300 yards.
The Pinseeker with slope is not allowed in any sanctioned events. My local club won't allow them either. I have a friend who's wife purchased one for him and he can't even use it.
During the last 7 years my handicap dropped from 12 to 7 and I think it is because I know exactly how far all my clubs will go. I much prefer the laser rangefinder to a GPS because the GPS will only give you to the center of the green and can't check out a bunker to see if you can clear it off the tee.
