For Taylor Made fans

As some of you know I work part time at a major golf chain. This morning we had a product knowledge session on some of the newer taylor product for this year.

First the T.P. Muscle Back irons are very very nice. They have a satin finish, milled face and grooves and just set up soooooo nice. The Taylor staff nick named them the Retief's as he played a major role in the design.

The R7 425 definatly is an improvement over the 1st generation R7. The comination of larger club head , improved shaft and futher spaced apart weight ports increases the left - right and high low effect dramatically.

In an Iron Byron setting up the club into a full slice position had the ball go 20 yards to the right. Setting it up for maximum hook had it go 30 yards to the right. This is a 50 yard varience!!!!!!!! Amazing. True this was in a machine but it makes for good reference. For height / loft varience the effect was almost as dramatic.

The Reax shaft is also the way to go. The main feature of this shaft was explained as follows. When a shaft bends (a shaft is a tube) it deforms and starts to oval. The more it ovals the more energy is wasted as it starts to take its shape back. The Re Ax shaft fights the ovalling so that more energy is realeased at the ball. It also stabalizes the head throuout the swing.

In the TP 425 the shaft has an even stroger effect as the Re Ax material is combined with Tri Ax to give you Rombax. It is from tip to heel on the T.P. vrs the middle secton only on the R7 425.

I'll report later on the R7 460.

Yep, when I pulled them out of the box, I thought to myself, "Man, these are too pretty to hit!"

Took them out yesterday for the first round with the new sticks, and I found myself skulling a few shots because I was afraid of pulling divots and scarring the sole
