Best type of Ball Retriever

I have seen some different types of ball retrievers. The "I gotcha" as well as others. Does anyone have any opinions on some of these? Are the spring loaded ones like the I gotcha good or just a gimick?

I bought my father the I gotcha one a year ago and he likes it. It seems to work pretty good.

Any type that you can put a golf ball rake on are good 'nuff :D You can drag out 4-6 balls per stroke from ponds.

The best one I have come across is my 14 year old son. He doesn't mind getting wet and sells me the extra balls. A hot dog at the turn and we are even.

I just read an article that said balls that have been in the water more than a week get water logged and lose any performance they may have had. Therefore instead of holding up my group and the ones behind me looking for balls, i just leave them there.

I've heard that too but until my handicap gets down to double-digits I don't think it'll make much of a difference to my game!

I am only interested in retrieving my own. I probably wouldn't use any ball from the water. I just have a tendency to lose my balls right out of reach. I can see them, but can't get to them. In the woods and under bushes as well. I just wasn't sure about the durability of those spring loaded ball retrievers.

Water balls losing performance...heh, what performance would that be? I've hit water balls and they still go the same distance and spin the same amount as similar balls brand new (as long as they are decent looking and not scuffed/cut). Does this reflect on my game or the validity of water balls claims? I dunno, perhaps if I only used brand new balls my HC would drop below 10.

maybe some if the older balata balls could get water logged, but i don't see that happening to todays balls. he technology of todays ball whether it be a 1 piece to a 4 piece ball is far superior to where a water logged ball is next to impossible
