new shaft for...need your help!

ok, i have the callaway bb II 9* driver with the stock firm flex shaft. i've had it for almost two years and since i'm more serious about my game now i'm thinking about putting a new shaft on it. with the stock shaft, i don't get a penatrating ball flight but a bit balloony with not much run out. anyone have any experience with this driver and different shaft? what were the before and after characteristics. please share. thanks.

I haven't tried one myself, but a lot of people seem to like the UST proforce V2.

the ball usually balloons because the shaft a low kick point and is too way too weak for you swing which puts too much spin on the ball. you need a higher kick point and / or a stiffer shaft. the pro force v2 is very popular along with the aldila nv, both reasonalbly priced. they have a higher kick point with a fimer tip. that should do the trick.

psgolf,

I will be glad to help you find the shaft your looking for but I would need for you to answer a few questions for me.....

What is your current distance including roll? (not best but average)

How much roll do you usually get with your driver?

I know what your typical shot does but what does your bad shots usually do?

What is your swing speed?

Would you say your are more aggressive or smooth with your swing?

Is your current club standard length?

This will help me determine what shaft will work best for you in the BBII. Keep in mind with the shaft so close to the ground in the BBII it will stiffen up alot so be carefully not to pick a shaft that will become a board.

christian, answers to your questions...

christian,

here are my answers to your questions. did i fail??? haha! thanks a bunch.

What is your current distance including roll? 240-250 is avg

How much roll do you usually get with your driver? my guess is about 10yrds

I know what your typical shot does but what does your bad shots usually do? days when i feel like i'm driving well its a slight straight pull. days when i feel i'm not it's a slice.

What is your swing speed? it's been almost a year since it was measured but it was 104 back then.

Would you say your are more aggressive or smooth with your swing? not too aggressive but more so than smooth.

Is your current club standard length? yes

This will help me determine what shaft will work best for you in the BBII. Keep in mind with the shaft so close to the ground in the BBII it will stiffen up alot so be carefully not to pick a shaft that will become a board.

great insight...never thought about that.

From what you have mentioned I would guess that the shaft is too whippy for you swing. This will cause it to over kick at times giving you a closed club face (pulling) and sometimes it can be left open causing it to carry straight and then fade (slice).

I would say that you need to look for a S-Flex shaft with a stiffer tip to help you with the launch angle and consistancy.

Might want to look at....
Aldila NV 65
AccuFLEX Icon V2
AccuFLEX JLG
Fujikura Vista Pro 70
UST V2 75

All of these shafts will come stable enough to handle your swing but smooth enough for you to feel them through impact.

Let me know if I can help with the reshaft.

My 0.2 cents......the Accuflex Icon V2 is a much better feeling shaft than the Aldila NV 65.
