51 or 53 degree wedge?

I have 56-13 and 60-08 Mizuno MP T Series wedges. My PW is 48*.
I'm was going to get a 52* gap wedge because that splits the difference and I also used to have one (prior to a theft). Plus, I know that I hit a 52* 115 yds.

But, Mizuno doesn't make a 52* for this series of wedges. They make a 51-06 and a 53-08.

Any thoughts on which wedge I should purchase?

Get either one and have the loft adjusted to 52 degrees. This will give you a 52-07 either way.

in my opinion, since your used to a 56* already, i'd get the 53*. this way you can have it bent either way to fill the gap. if you get the 51* you'll have a fairly sized gap to the 60*

I agreed with Forged, Get one and just adjust the loft. Thats what I did with my 60* that used to be a 58. And changing lofts should only cost a couple of bucks.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about having the loft adjusted to 52*.

Problem solved.

I just picked up the Cleveland 588 51 degree wedge. It is a great gap wedge and really nice around the green.

Looking at your set make up, I see a decision in your future. You are sitting on 14 clubs right now. If you go to a 4 wedge system, somebody has to leave the party. I found myself in a similar position. I carry what I call the two-gap grouping.

48* PW
53* Gap 1 (52-8* bent to 53*)
58* Gap 2 (60-3 bent to 58*)

This kept a 5* spacing, and allows me to lay the 58* open without adding a ton of bounce. I carry 14 on the course and nobody has to stay in the car.

Depending on the course I play, I'd pull out a wedge or the 3-iron or the hybrid.

When you choose either the 51 or the 53 to bend to 52 consider the bounce. I personally would get the 53 and bend it to 52 and have less bounce vs bending the 51 and adding bounce.

I would probably go with the 53 given the choices. After 32 years of playing golf, I finally started using a gap wedge this season hehe. I have all Vokeys and now have the 52, 56, and 60 to go with the 48 690 MB PW. The gap wedge is a very handy club especially on shorter courses. I don't know what I was waiting for...someone should have told me a loooong time ago!

Had my PW loft checked and it was actually 46. So, I ordered a 51* this week. That 10* gap has been killing me. Lately, I've been playing courses where driver leaves me between 110-130 out on the par 4's. I hit my 56 about 100 and my PW about 135. Lots of 50-60 footers because of that. I hope the 51 saves me at least one shot.
