I think the best fairway wood out there is the 970, its a rocket launcher but if you dont have a SS over 105, forget it.
For the average golfer, I recommend the V Steel, 200 steel (tour and retail), Cleveland Launcher (steel and titanium), not really the Titliest cause they can be hard to hit if your swing isn't on, the Sonartec's, etc.
Also look into getting the TP REscues, the ones with FW written next to their number, their easier to play than fairway woods and still offer the same results.

Best fairway woods
Mike:
I've tried quite a few different fairway woods because, although I generally play 75-80, over the years wood play from the fairway has been the least consistent part of my game. In the past year, IMO, I've gone from good to better to best (for me). First I had Callaway Steelhead IIIs, which were long and solid but sprayed the ball a little too much (felt like a little too much bounce in the soles). Then I had SonarTec SS-03s, which were longer, more solid, but tended not to get the ball up as consistently as I wanted. And now I have a GBBII 3-wood and 5-wood. These are also very long, and very solid, and get the ball up off the fairway or the tee better than the Callaway or the SonarTec. Incredibly forgiving clubs, though certainly a little pricey (that's what eBay is for). If you were only going to buy one club to try, I'd say get the GBBII 5-wood. I can consistently clear 75-foot trees 100 yards ahead of me off the tee (we have a shortish par-4 with a really tough dogleg) but also can hit a long, running "stinger" off the fairway by playing it back a little. Had a GBBII driver, too, but found better-performing drivers (for me). Never found a better fairway wood.

The Cleveland Launchers are the best fairway woods IMO. They are long and easy to hit. Beware though, they aren't really for shots in the rough. They're great in the fairway and off the tee.
