Want to get up to speed before asking too many questions here
So...where can I go to find some information like...
What are all the different kinds of putters, (mallet, 2 ball, etc) and what are the main aspects of each kind (heavy, roll, ....)
What are blades, and how are they different to other irons, cavity backs, etc.
If I have a faster/slower swing speed, should I be more inclined to get a stiff/flex shaft on my clubs.
What will the effect of using harder/softer balls be? does it depend on the kind of clubs I use, or my swing style, or what kind of shot I am trying to play?
and on, and on, and on...many other newbie questions of the sort :)
Any guides I can read out there in internet-land?
Or does someone want to spend 2hrs writing down everything they know about everything.
I'm not really looking for hard and fast answers, as I know somethings are personal preference. Just a push in the right direction.
the best way to get your questions answered would be to go back and look thru many of these threads. just about every question possible has been asked, usually more than once. mike
i haven't been a golf rewind member that long, but i did learn one thing (every so often that happens), ask one to two questions at a time, and you'll get much better results. mike
I think some good advice has already been passed to you...look back over the threads here and just wander around reading them. You can also get all the catalogs you can carry and pour over them. Go down to a well equiped pro shop when they aren't busy and strike up a conversation with a pro and ask some questions. That way, he can show you a lot and you will pick up the jargon and learn about the different types of equipment. Most of the PGA teaching pros I know are happy to share their knowledge. When you find one you really click with, you might even sign up for some lessons. I developed a friendship with one in particular here at Golf Pro in Sarasota and bought some clubs based on his recommendations. I signed my daughter up with him for some lessons. It has blossomed into a great friendship for my 10 year old daughter and I. If I have a question about something, or want to buy something, I look him up.
Just spent an hour down at City Golf in Boston.
While the range there was not extensive, I managed to have most of my questions answered and feel I am now in a good position to go out and buy some clubs off ebay, as I feel I know enough about my swing style and what I want out of a club to take the plunge without hitting the clubs first.
Also had a hit of a bucket of balls and it felt good...after about the first 30-40 hits I felt like my swing wasn't as rusty as it could have been!
Is there a term for the insatiable urge to play golf? ineedahitagolfballitis? I'm suffering from it, whatever you term it!
