I am just about done with my Rescue Dual. I think my mistake was getting a steel shaft without trying it. I tried the graphite at a shop, liked it, bought a steel shafted one on ebay, didn't like it. It seems too heavy for it's head and doesn't feel very well balanced. It's hurt me more than it's helped me, although I have hit some decent shots with it.
Probably deciding between an Innovex and a Nickent. I've heard good things about both, and people with steel shafted Innovex's seem to be recommending them. I have their irons and love them. But I'm understandably weary of getting another steel shafted hybrid.
The Nickent Genex are the right price too, and they get good comments, but I've heard they're less forgiving and I need forgiveness.
I'm trying to spend less, get some value here. Innovex owners, please comment on forgiveness and weight balance with steel shafts. Nickent owners please comment on forgiveness. Cheers.
I bought an Innovex 4H with their stock fst stiff steel shaft and did not like it - I could hit a nice high draw with it but could not hit it as long as my 3 or 4 iron which it was trying to replace. I returned it and am now waiting on one of their 3H with a S300 steel shaft to match my irons.
Cleveland Halo's have high flight and are forgiving.
Nickent has two new hybrids. One has better weighting with a standard hybrid shape. The other is broader in shape more like a rescue wood. These are more forgiving than the older model. In their defence I have a 1/14 degree which I will put up against a 3 wood any day. I had two shots 230 and 240 with it the other day. That is only 10 yards off my better drives. Nickents are set up to draw a little which helps me (I and a million other golfers tend to slice).
Hogan's have had a good write up recently but I haven't had time to try one yet.
Iwa going to, which was going to cost me NZ$100, but if I sell my club and use that $100 towards a new one, I'll still probably have something left over in the long run and I'll have a whole new club. I'm still considering it, I'm also considering selling it and getting the graphite version of the same thing.
I have the regular rescue in both graphite and steel shaft and I agree its harder to find the clubhead with the steel shaft...but I like the weight of the steel shaft too so . I had a nickent and thought it was so-so... I guess I had the same feeling you did in a sense b/c I hated the shaft and it is more economical to sell it and get something else with the money already spent b/c a shaft change costs almost as much as the club. I'd say try out the Halo, I've hit some a few times and those things are easy to get in the air and feel really solid at impact.
I have 3 of the Nickent Genexs. I love them. If I can hit them, they must not be hard to hit. They are the most forgiving club in my bag. If you make solid contact, its going to go straight towards where you were aiming. I would definitely suggest them to anybody considering a hybrid. The only negative Ive heard about them is they have a rather dead feel to them on contact, and I would agree with that, but as I said, if you make contact its gonna be straight towards you target. I have yet to hit one with them that was very bad to either side. I was never a strong fairway wood player, and these have let me completely remove that aspect of my game, which I couldnt be more thankful for.

I've only played Nickent, Taylor Made, and Cobra hybrids in the past few years (since hybrids came out). Personally, I liked the TM the best and I actually played it for 2 years (TM Rescue Mid TP with a TT Dynamic Gold X100, 16 degrees).
The Cobra was geared more towards higher trajectory and game improvement, so it was nice, but didn't fit my game. The Nickent was nice also, but I had more control with my 2-iron so I ditched it.
I have to say, I was impressed with my Cobra Hybrids. But I decided to try a 2 iron hydrid. After hitting hundreds of balls I decided on a Ping G-10 18* hybrid.
I got one with a V2 HL and I LOVE it, before on par 5s I always thought be conservative and have a birdie putt. Now I am thinking I have a chance to Eagle them and on short par 4s it is like butter.
I can work it a little but straight is where this club excells, I am aiming at pins and fariways with total confidence.
I am thinking of taking my 3 wood out and dropping a 15* 1 iron Ping G-10 hybrid in.
This hybrid shaft combo is the best fit of any club in my bag, I dream on chances to pull it our.
So many hybrids and so little time/money to try them all. Especially true since i live pretty far away from a 'real' golf store and online purchases tend to lag to my playing times.
I'm looking for a nice 3/4 iron replcaement myself. Not to mention something to fill in between under the 3-wood. (have been thinking 2H or even the Fy from wilson)...
still haven't gotten any feedback in my Fy thread about the club though.... :(
