Kenneth Smith makes some of the finest custom made clubs available. They have been fitting clubs to golfers for a long time. Customers include some very prominent and very wealthy people. Great facility in the Kansas City suburbs. Da good stuff!!!
Those days of Kenneth Smith's are over. Raven golf now has the rights to the name, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I too was curious about these and I went ahead a bought the cb heads you see on ebay. I shafted them with DG SLX100 and these things are monsters, I could not be happier with them. Somewhat larger blade profile then I am used to, but a very fine feeling and performing component set.
That's actually what prompted my question. I have a Raven Golf outlet store five minutes away from where I live, and they have the Kenneth Smith 420 CC titanium driver head on clearence for $40. I was wondering who Kenneth Smith was and if that is an okay deal.
Pro Shop Warehouse has several sets head for sale on ebay. I was considering a set and also some Wood Bros. heads they have also. If I rememeber, PSW sells a 3-pw set for $70 or so for forged (near net forged - most likely form type forging) head in either name. Both look great but as was stated, they (both) are not the same company they used to be. But that does not mean they are of poor quality. I actaully did by a set of Wood Bros. cavity backs for my dad but ended up selling them since he bought a set of Henry-Griffitts.
I haven't tried any of their metal wood offerings. But, as I recall, they are Beta (or SP-700) Titanium and $40 is a very good price, even if they were clones at that price, it would be a good deal. The previous poster was correct, the irons aren't a true forging, but are born out of a less expensive form forging process..
