Middle length Hybrids

I have a local golf store that is going out of business. They have Tour Edge hybrids for $40.00. I thought this might be an inexpensive opportunity to give hybrids a chance. I like how it feels. However I went looking for a 3 or a 4. All that is left are 5s on up. I am looking for a 200 - 210 yard club. I hit my 5 iron about 190.
Here's my question. Would I gain any distance over my 5 iron using the hybrid? I can hit my 5 fairly consistantly. Would there be any reason/situation at all to use the 5 hybrid over my 5 iron?

Thanks

Dave

I'm about 50/50 with my 5I consistantly. With my 5 hybrid about 90%. Since I have more confidence in the hybrid, I give it a stronger swing, I might get about 5 yards extra.

I think it depends on the degree of loft on the hybrid. I have a Hogan CFT #5 hybrid with 27* of loft. Compared with my 5 iron, the hybrid gives me about 10 more yards, a lot more height, and a little more consistency. Its also pretty good for chipping.

I also use a CFT #4 (24*) and a TM Rescue #3 (19*). Each of these give me all the benefits noted above, vs. the corresponding numbered iron.
