Swingweight question.

I think this is the right place for this question, if not, feel free to fix it for me...

I'm having trouble swinging my driver, and I'm starting to suspect it may have to do with the swingweight. Just like the irons should have similar swingweights, should the driver have a similar swingweight to your irons? Does anyone know what the sw of their driver and irons? Would this help (or hinder if they are different)? I'm sure everyone has had those days where their drivers are straight, but the irons are not working, and vice versa. I've never read anything about this. Any thoughts would be helpful. Any bit of knowledge would be better. Thanks everyone.

its probably not the swingweight, but just the weight of the club that is throwing you off. having a light shafted driver is very beneficial in ways, but it can throw your swing off. check to see if you are taking the club back faster than you do with the irons, and also the pause needed at the top of the backswing. these are things that i have had trouble with in the past with light driver shafts, which is why i prefer shafts at 80 grams or close to that weight. more control, which is much more important than distance.

Thanks shlefty. I've noticed my best hits come when I swing a bit slower and not take the club back all the way(at least that's how it feels). I'll check on those tips. Thanks again.

Yes a full shoulder turn will make a huge difference in your swing. Swing weight will not help that much. As a rule of thumb your driver should be lighter then your irons.

Thanks Scott1s. I'll try to get a video in here soon to see if anyone can point out anything else I might be doing differently from my irons to my driver.
