driver=heel , iron=toe
I have a set of non-fitted tommy armour 845u silverback irons. I'm usually hitting my drives at the heel on the club face, but with my irons, it seems that I hit my shots more at the toe. I'm sure there's a problem with my swing, but if I pay to get my irons fitted to my swing, would this help?

The problem more than likely is due to how you address the ball - standing too close for driver and too far for irons. Running out and getting your clubs fitted may or may not help - I actually know very few people who have fitted clubs and most of the people I play with are single digit handicappers. Unless you're unusually tall or short, fitted clubs are not really necessary. It's not the club but the person swinging the club. Take a lesson and have a pro sort it out for you. It's also a far less expensive way to go.

Get custom fit man, as long as you have a repeatable swing. When getting fit if the shaft was 1/2" to long I stopped having a center hits every time. If it was 1/2" to short then the same Only when I had them in between were the hits on the center 90% of the time. Several factors in a custom fitting besides just how tall you are. A good clubmaker could fit the clubs to you for under 50$ unless you needed to get new shafts.
On the driver, a shorter shaft may help heel shots with the longer club is more about you coming out of balance. So either work on your balance or get that club shortened up so your not loosing your balance in the swing. Even if you think your not you still are with heel shots.

tooley99, before you buy or cut anything, just take a lesson. It's a safe bet the pro can tell you exactly why you're doing what you're doing and straighten you out w/o retooling your equippment.
