Cleaning Shoes

How do you clean and care for golf shoes? Since they get a lot dirtier than regular shoes should you use soap & water on leather?

I believe you can. Use a mild detergent of course. Or you can go to like a foot locker or any other athletic shoe store and pick up some leather shoe cleaner. It works great, but only if you want to drop the six bucks on it. I use it on all my leather athletic shoes. Just don't forget to dry them right after wards.

I think I read in the latest Golf Digest somewhere that you shouldn't use shoe polish/wax on golf shoes - it stops them from "breathing."

I've always applied shoe polish/wax to my golf shoes every couple of rounds, and once every few months go over lightly with mink oil. Its been my experience that this helps keep my feet dry, as well as keeping the outside leather looking somewhat new.

Just my opinion.
