Gloves???

Don't any of you right handed golfers get blisters on your right hand? It seems like all right hand golfers only wear gloves on the left hand. I am fairly new to the game so I did what other right handed golfers did, I only bought the glove for my left hand. But after a while I got too many blisters on my right hand that now I am wearing gloves on both.

Is there something wrong with how i'm gripping the club?

If you are right handed and swing right handed and are getting blisters on your right hand, then you are definitely doing something wrong. I can only recommend getting lessons from a pro. Others on this forum with more experience and talent should be more helpful than me.
P.S. I only use a glove on my left hand and I never get blisters on my right hand.

If you're not used to holding and swinging a club, one may get a little blister on the lower part of your right forefinger - but after a little time, that will become a callous.

I'm a lefty (so glove on my right hand), but had the same problem when I picked up golf two years ago - I was getting blisters on my left hand.

I ended up not holding the club so tight, or as Ben Hogan said 'like its a wet towel', and that took care of it. I was gripping the club way too tight, and trying to kill the ball..

Gripping too tight, overswinging, having baby soft hands, all could be reasons...get a lesson and sort out your grip and see if that cures it......

Im a new player as well and I have the exact same problem! My blister is right at the base of my right middle finger.. it developed after I hit a large bucket of balls on my 2nd day. :T I have tried to loosen up my grip but Im always concerned of lobbing the club right onto the range anyhow - good luck but at least you're not the only one!

Your hands will callous up after awhile. It took about 3 months for me. Now that it has happened, the only reason I wear one is for grip.....sweaty hands=bad results in 105 degree Texas heat.

i get blisters on my right hand. i put band-aids on 2-3 fingers when i golf. i think its a combo of gripping too tight, and playing too much.

I actually just started recieving blisters this past week on my right hand. I know my problem is gripping to tight, but since I have such slick grips I've been holding on tighter so I don't lose the club! That's causing me to blister. Maybe you need new grips. Also, I've played 99 holes these past days, and it will be 117 tommrow afternoon. Another reason for a blistering right hand.

Since you say you are a new player, I'm going to make an assumption. You are PROBABLY gripping the club too tightly. Try holding the club with the same amount of pressure you'd use to hold the hand of a two year old you were taking a walk with. I know, it seems counter-intuitive, but much of golf is like that. For instance, to get the ball up, you hit down...opening your stance to correct a slice will cause a bigger slice. Golf is just like that. Try easing up on the grip. This should help with the blisters and it will have the added benefit of letting you relax your forearms and upper arms, which will give you more distance on your shots.
