3 Wood or another Hybrid?

The new course I regularly play is pretty tight. I think I need to add something a little more controllable off the tee on a couple holes. I was thinking a new 3 wood or another type of hybrid. Right now my bag has 4-sw irons (Big Bertha), an R7 425 10.5, and a Cleveland Halo 3I 22 degree hybrid. I hit my Driver consistently around 280 and my Halo 200-220. I need something to fill the Gap. My handicap is 15. Any suggestions?

I have a few hybrids...tm rescue dual tp is quite good (I have two) and have good distance, but my favorite is a sonartec md...with your swingspeed I think you could get 240 with roll out of a 15*...I hit the ball better with hybrids and are the way to go IMO...

I like hybrids as well. I am trying to get a deal done now on a TM rescue dual 16 with steel shaft. I could hit my old steelhead 3 real good about 70% of the time , but that 30% was killing my score because they would be going in deep trouble. My hybrid is dealdy 90% of the time, as long as I play it like a regular iron it is money. I have high swing speed and hit my regular irons well, but hybrids are here to stay in my bag. Just too easy.

I have a Callaway X 15 degree graphite 3 wood that I really like. Nice feel to it, I put it about 250 off the tee, and can reach the green from 225.

Cant go wrong with a 4 wood. Easier to hit than a 3 and longer than a rescue club

Is the 280 you hit your driver with roll or not? I had the same problem. I had a driver which I carry 270+ consistantly, and then my 3 iron i hit 225. I ended up going with a 5 wood and I hit it around 245-250. But really the best advice I can give to you is to go to a golf store and hit every fairway wood and hybrid they have and pick the brain of the salesman, b/c those guys are taught to best fit a player with clubs.

I have a few customers that liked their hybrids so much, they added a 15* hybrid instead of a 3 wood. Everyone so far is thrilled with their results!

Unfortunately I have no advice for golfers who can consistently hit their drivers 280 yards, or carry their drivers 270+ yards. I wish I did. You guys play a different game than I play.

Good advice. I think I'll go to Golf Galaxy and hit a bunch of 15 degree Hybrids and some newer 3 woods, might even try out a few 4 woods. I've hit the Sonartec hybrid, I really like the big/square face, but I found I couldn't hit it consistently. I might give it another try, it was when I had never hit a hybrid before. As far as 3 woods I've heard good things about the Callaway X-15, Ping G5 and the Nike Sasquatch. If I go with the 3 wood I definitely want a forgiving one.

Funny, I was thinking of ditching my 60*. I hit my standard SW much more consistently.

Get either a 3 or 5 wood (depending upon what you want to use it for). I'd suggest a V-steel. It's relatively cheap and pretty easy to hit.
