New golf bag...

Hey everybody,

I posted on here a few days ago about buying a new irons set, and I ended up with the Cleveland Launcher LP's (4-PW, GW), along with a Hippo XXL 3h hybrid which feels amazing considering I paid $45 for it new. Now on to the next question...a new golf bag. I only have the bag that came with my beginner's set and it doesn't even have a stand, so it often falls over, and I don't want to damage my new clubs because of an accident like that. So basically what I am looking for is a good stand bag, preferably black/silver or just black, that has a good divider system as well. I am a relatively new golfer (couple of years, shoot in the high 90's) so I am worried about looking like a fool with a high name brand bag, so something low profile would be better (and possibly deter any thieves since I only play at public courses). Any recommendations for a good stand bag, relatively cheap as well? Sorry for the insanely long post, any advice would be appreciated.

I posted this in response to someone else's similiar question. Sorry for the double post but I'm not sure how to link to the other discussion.

I recently bought one of the Precise EMP bags off eBay new for $35 plus $17 shipping (buy it now is $79.97). I couldn't be happier with the features for the price and the bag seems every bit as well made as well made as any of the various brands of $100 and under bags they had at Dick's. Since I just got it I cannot give a report on long term durability but someone else on the forum might have some experience.

If you want to check it out search eBay for "NEW PRECISE EMP DELUXE GOLF STAND BAG". There are 19 currently listed in various colors. I chose the red/black/silver and it's a sharp looking bag. There are multiple pictures in the auction.

Features from the auction listing

Stylish curved 7 way air mesh top
Ergonomic comfort molded handle
Large front ball pocket
External putter tube
Ball dispenser fits up to 3 golf balls
5 zippered pockets
1 mesh pocket
Easy access cooler for your drinks
Fur lined cell phone / jewelry pocket
6 EZ access tee slots
Extra padded shoulder strap with air mesh breathable material
Dual strap allows it to be carried like a backpack
Rain hood/cover included!
Ultra lightweight weighing in at an amazing 4.3 lbs

Here's the black/black version.

Since you've gone out and spent some money on nice brand-name irons, I'd say go out and buy a Ping Hoofer Extreme, which I have in black and silver and is really sleek. It's worth every penny if you know how to properly use the stand in windy/hilly conditions. However, if you want a low-profile bag, you are on your own.

I was in the same boat as you. All I had was a old bag that didn't have a stand and I had just bought new clubs so I wanted to get a low-key stand bag. I ended up picking up an Ogio bag from Costco for around $80 and it has worked great for me so far. I think it is the Vaporlite model (but I'm not positive) and it has everything I would ever need in a bag whether walking or riding in a cart. The shoulder strap system is very comfortable and there is an insulated drink pouch which comes in very handy. Everything seems to be locigically placed for walking the course as long as you put things where it is supposed to go. For example, when the bag is on your shoulders the scorecard and the drink pouch is right there and easy to access. When the bag is up on it's legs the ball and tee holder is just below the handle and you don't have to go digging through the pockets to find them. I got black with silver trim and it looks really nice but still low key. I haven't used many different types of golf bags and I am sure there are many fine bags out there but for the price and features I would have no problem buying another Ogio bag.

the bag that i have now is awesome its a izzo/datrek quiver bag that weighes probably less than three pounds, has 4 dividers (1 for woods, 2 for irons, and 1 for putter/wedges) and has on large apparel pocket, a tees and balls pocket, and a random storage pocket. I love my bag, it holds whatever i need, VERY low key, becasue it doesnt have any large brand names on it and its easy to carry and put the stand out...

I have an Ogio Edge bag and love it. It is great. Ogio makes some fantastic bags.

Good Luck

My vote goes to either Ogio or Izzo...they both make great bags and I have my eye on one as soon as I can justify ANOTHER golf purchase...

yeah i'd vote for either an ogio bag or the ping hoofer, check them out. imo the ogio has a better management system, but the ping is just sweet looking.
out of curiosity, why do you think you'd look like a fool with a namebrand bag?

I would definetely also look at the OGIOs though, although they are a big name bag company they make bags that are low key... My #1 Choice from ogio would either be the Edge or the Ozone..

hey, i do like the ogio ozone and edge bags also, but i had another question...on ogio's website, they show the 3 way divider system on the top, but it shows like 7 separations (a few just for woods i think) and i really like that to keep the clubs separate...what does the 3 way divider system mean then? my bag now has only 3 dividers and its really inconvenient...thanks for the advice, if you dont know what i mean, please post a reply and i will try to clear up what i mean...
