Broke my 3 wood shaft, need a new shaft

I was trying out my 3 wood that I got used off of Ebay. The shaft that came with it was the Proforce 65 regular flex. Well after about 15 swings at the range, I hear a cracking noise on my backswing. I turn and find the head hanging by a thread. I didn't hit the ground so I can only assume that the force of my swing broke the shaft. I have a very fast swing (I am a baseball player) and my friends suggest I get a stiff shaft or xtra stiff shaft. Now since I am still learning golf, I am looking to get a shaft that wont hurt the ol wallet. Any suggestions? Also is there a e-tailer that has the best prices for shafts?

Also, do shafts come with grip or do you need to buy grip? Wish I could recycle my old grip, I loved it.

If you are just starting and swing that hard I would get a steel shaft put in your 3 wood. It will be a lot less money retail and in my mind is a better choice for beginners. You will have to buy a grip as well (although there is a way to blow them off with a compressor).

Ask the proshop where you play if they know any local club makers or check the sponsors listed here if you want to find a shaft, (but factor in another $30+ to have it installed locally) although you may be able to ship them the head of your 3 wood and them install it for you.

I second the steel shaft...On a different note, I have heard alot of breaking the shaft stories when it comes to that shaft...one to avoid...
