Stand Or Cart Bag??

I just dumped my starter set bag in the garbage. Its pretty much had it. I plan on keeping the clubs for awhile until I feel more comfortable playing. In the meantime I need a replacement bag.

I was just browsing Golfsmith.com and see that they have some pretty nice cart bags from Lynx, MacGregor, and Taylor made for <$100. There are also some stand bags from Nike, Callaway, etc, for <$100. I'm not looking to get a bag that cost more than my clubs. I'm just not sure if I should go with the cart or stand bag. Never had a stand bag before so I was just wondering how durable they are?

Really all depends on how you intend to play (walking vs riding)...look around at some of the other big golf warehouse websites...there is always a sale, esp. with Labor Day and the end of the season looming...

If you really want cheap, go to a thrift store...there is always an old bag in the back somewhere for under $10...

I just ordered an OGIO Vaporlite stand bag for $70.00 off of Rockbottomgolf.com. I would definately go stand bag, it is alot easier to put a stand bag on a cart than it is to carry a cart bag.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess the reason I was thinking cart bag is that they just look sturdier. Again though, I'm only looking on a website, I haven't actually seen a stand bag in person.
I'll check rockbottomgolf.com. Any other suggested websites?

www.justgolfbags.com for online.

As Bigvivec said sales are starting soon. If you to Dick's sporting goods home page they have a link on the bottom where you can check their current sales flier in your area. I checked for mine and they have their Acuity stand bags on sale for 50% off so they are $29.98.

Good move! A good bag and a good pair of golf-shoes are the best golf purchases you can make. I recommend you go to a couple of golf-shops to see the bags in person, to see how well made they are, to check out the pockets, to check out how it sits on the shoulder(s) (if you want to walk), and to check out how easily the clubs slide in and out . I got a stand-bag with a separate putter-tube on the side, which is quite helpful.

Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate all the suggestions. My wife just told me she went ahead and ordered me the Ogio Vaporlite stand bag. I guess she got tired of watching me go from site to site checking out bags.

stand bags only for me, even when I take a cart..which is not often.
I'm hooked on Ogio bags.

Cart bags fall over a lot. Especially when taking it out from the trunk and at the driving range.

personally i think cart bags look better, but stand bags are more practical if you'll be walking a lot

Thats kind of what I was thinking Letters. Cart bags looked better and sturdier. I was at the driving range yesterday and noticed about 8 out of 10 people had stand bags. So I guess it definitely is the more popular/practical solution.

If it were me, I'd rather have the stand bag. You can carry and cart a stand bag, but you'll never want to carry a cart bag. That being said, I have both. But only because I got this as a gift from a friend who works at Oakley.
