Wedges................

I'm trying to decide which wedges to put in my bag. I have the Cobra 3100 I/H 45* pw and 50* gw that came with my set. I'm' not really comfortable with the gw, but maybe my technique should be in check, not the club. When trying to lightlya pitch it, I end up with a hard chip. Do I need a higher lofted wedge. What do you all use? Thanks

For the kind of pitches you're talking about, I generally used my 56* Titleist Vokey sand wedge. They feel really soft, have great spin, and the loft works well for these shots. It's a really versatile club in general. I play it from 100 yards out, around the green, all over the place. The 56 is a great loft in my eyes.

Choose your bounce wisely my friend.

Sounds like as much a bounce issue as with loft.

I have Volkey & Cleveland wedges. But Taylor Made and Mizuno have the same high quality too.

Check out whats in my bag. You dont have to carry as many wedges as I do, but you at least need a 56* degree and I would encourage you to get a 60* Wedge. Both are great around the green.

About bounce, if you have a steep swing, take a big divot, then get more bounce on your wedge.

If you have a sweeping swing and just brush the grass/take a little divot, its better to get less bounce.

Those are good rules of thumb.

Best wishes

I agree with this...wedges are as personal as putters so demo a few to get one that "feels" good...many quality wedges to choose from, but definetly get a sand wedge with standard bounce (14-16*) if you are a beginner for bunker shots...with experience will come a development in preference for bounce...
