Original big bertha warbird driver

I have the chance to purchase to buy 1 in 11* loft with a steel shaft for pretty cheap. How does it compare to clubs nowadays I do plan on replacing shaft with a graphite if I do purchase.

Where do I start? When this club came out it was earth-shaking. It was the club that started the high priced driver business. It was so much better than anything that had come before, it was as if there a new game to be played. It was much easier to hit, much easier to hit straight, and long. That being said, it's time is long gone. You will find clubs on Ebay, or in your local used rack for 25-30 bucks that will be ten times better. As a piece of history it is very important, but it has no place in your bag if you are looking to score your best. There are tons of these on Ebay, and they don't sell for $10.

I have a Callaway Big Bertha Hawkeye thats quite a few years old now, and I am not even thinking about upgrading to something else because of how well I hit it. I have played with lower handicap players who use the latest and greatest (ERC, X460, G5) and I out hit them all. They cant believe I hit it as well as I do.

I also love the sound of it compared to the newer drivers these days. It sounds so much better IMO. If its cheap enough, then why not give it a try at least. You can get an old bertha for the same price as bargain bin drivers in more golf stores these days.

Of course you are right, but I was at work, busy, and figured I was close enough for the argument I was making. We are a special breed of golf nerd to know this stuff.

the war bird is till my all time fav. club i still hit my 9.5* when i get the chance. when you connect with a war bird the ball still screams off the club face, if you can get it cheap buy it if you don't like it park it and buy a new used 20 dollar driver.
