HVC Tours or Noodles?

Hey all,

I am about a month into getting into golf and looking for a ball I can stick with. I have read alot of good things about the Noodle Long and Soft on here. But a friend at work told me to check out the HVC Tours. I found mixed reviews online about those balls. Anyone have a preference or opinion?

Noodles are good balls, but they don't spin much....which can be a good thing and bad. You have the right idea though, especially when new, stick with one ball that way you at least have one consistant thing within the game. There are other alternatives such as the Nike super softs, Mojo's, Callaways, etc. Also don't be afraid of buying 2nd hand balls from ebay and such. I've had great success playing ProV1's, HX Tours, Nike One Platinum's for less than half retail costs.

Noodle, Noodle, Noodle, Noodle, Noodle, Noodle, Noodle, Noodle.

The last thing you want a month into starting golf is a ball that spins. The Noodle is a great ball to start out with.

That is absolutely the truth!!!!! If you want a ball that has some feel but doesn't spin a lot the Srixon Soft-Feel is inexpensive and a great starter ball.

I was checking out Sportschalet.com and I saw they had the Titleist DT So/Lo new and also a recycled box for only 7.99. What do you guys think of this ball?

How about the Noodle Ice?

The DT So/Lo is an excellent first ball. I still have some in my bag and use them when I reach in and pull ne out by mistake. I am now using Bridgestone E6, which I think would be an excellent first ball. I have been playing for 5 months now and it is my ball of choice, with the NXT a close second. But they are $24 a dozen. Buy those DTs, that sound like a great deal. Look for new balls but ones that are logo overuns, www.golfballs.com have good deals on balls like this. Nothing wrong with them, they just have logos on them.

Looks like the price for overruns is almost the same price for new ones at Sports Chalet:

Noodles are great balls, I have a friend that recently started playing them and loved them.

I have heard Precept Laddies are great bargain balls as well.

hvc tour ball is an excellant ball. i love them. now, that being said, for a beginner i believe you should deffinetly start off with the noodles. use them for about a year or so...then, when you've got your swing under control, start experimenting with higher spinning balls. good luck.

I have to go with mr3856a and Pepto on this one. The Noodle is the way to go. Great ball for beginners and otherwise.

Played 18 holes today with Noodles Long and Soft. I absolutely loved the ball. It felt good hitting with all my clubs. It felt so much softer and like I could control it more than with the Maxfli M3's I had been using.
