Do I need a stiffer shaft ?

I usually hit an 8 iron from 150 out but my ball flight seems to be SKY HIGH. Much higher than any other golfers I play with and I would like to lower it for more accuracy.

I have Dynalite gold sensicore R300 shafts in my irons.

Do I need to go to a stiffer shaft to lower my ball flight?

What shafts should I look at? I have a fairly fast swing speed.

In all likely hood I would say yes from what you say about hitting your 8 iron, but the first thing you need to do is to find out what your swing speed is, have your loft and lie check on your clubs, have your swing plane checked and then you will know if you need stiffer shafts. There are a lot of factors that play into why you maybe hitting higher than you playing partners that may or may not have to do with you shaft flex.

Almost forgot welcome to golf Rewind hope you enjoy your stay with us great place to talk golf or anything else you want to discuss.

If I remember correctly, the Dynalite Gold is a higher-launching shaft in itself, so that could be part of the problem too. As Halk said, by all means go get tested on a launch monitor, and then maybe consider switching to the Dynamic Gold or Black Gold for a lower launch.

Dynalite Gold is indeed a high launch shaft. You may find it better moving to a low or mid launch shaft, Dynamic Gold SL or Dynamic Gold Lite respectively. Although I would only try one club first before changing all of them.

Flex, that is harder to say. Although you hit you 8i 150 and say you have a fairly fast swing, without knowing how you load your shaft during the swing it will be a case of trial and error.

I was constantly told that I needed a stiff shaft because of my clubhead speed (again I hit an 8i about 150) and have had stiff shafts for 7 years, but after 1 round too many of struggling I went for a fitting on a True Temper shaftlab. After the fitting I was recommended a A/R flex. I had a Dynamic Gold Lite R300 fitted to a spare 6 iron and after 2 months of trying them, what a difference! I may have my irons back by the weekend and I cannot wait to take them on the course.

I can recommend a fitting on a shaftlab. www.shaftlab.com

Thanks for the feedback guys. This site is great.

I went to the true temper website and they list all of their shafts and ball flight, etc.

I agree that I should get fitted for my swing.

Does anyone know what it would cost to have my shafts replaced by a golf shop if I decide on a new one?
