asking for advice on best affordable game improvement iron set!
like to upgrade , am a high handicapper still , but getting better daily, use power play select 5000 irons now, kind of a similar knock off to taylor rac,
have a internet club maker suggesting Nakashima NX 1 tour , or a synchron brand , which is similar to callaway....
should i look for cavity back and large blade size with low weighted techonolgy?
if you're going to change, get a brand name set, they are still the best. getting another off brand won't help you.i would suggest that you stay with cavity backs or a muscle cavity. there are many good brand name cavity backs that are affordable. Tilden t just gave you some good suggestions.
The Cleveland Launchers are very affordable and a great club. Wide sole and deep cavity for maximum forgiveness. I love mine and have fallen in love with iron play now that i have these. They are a great game improvement club. Make sure you give them a try.
Look around on eBay, GolfSmith, Rockbottom and other golf websites for good deals. Standard offering is 4-PW.

cavity back vs muscle back...? what is the main difference and pros and cons?
and this clubmaker tells me they are the same club heads as brands , just without the marketing hype and dollars, that they both buy from same factory manufacturer, do we believe that...

Cavity backs are much more forgiving...muscle backs not as much so. If you are a high handicapper, stick with cavity backs. Most of the PGA tour pros play cavity backs. The Cleveland Launchers are a real steal right now and the Armour Morphs can be had at super low prices. Both are top forgiving irons, in my opinion.

I have the 2006 big bertha callaway's. I would agree with Mikey - stick with a brand name. Also, you won't have to replace them again for awhile. I am also a high handicap(25) and these have helped improve my game. While my scores have not gone down much yet, they feel more comfortable and my shots are better.
take a look on the past models like cobra 3200I/H and mizuno mx-17... or the actual innovex(or wait until november to see the new cavit back). but, if you wait, maybe you won't have any cobra or mx-17 in the stores.
the TM rac os will be on sale in few weaks, as the new TM game improvement (R7 iron)are coming.

I would go with Launchers if you have a steep swing. I currently own a set of Morphs that are great, however, I'm looking to switch to MX-17's just because I find the Morphs a little less forgiving.
rac HT's!!!! I love mine and they will help you no doubt. I had zero trouble getting these things up in the air the very first time and if you like making big divot marks and dropping the ball next to the hole and making it stop then buy these irons!!!
