cleveland won't let you bend the CG10. all my other irons are 2* upright (including vokey 60), so this is unacceptible to me. about to trade it for a vokey SM.
So back it up! You will be the First to putt! Carry On!
They have the deepest widest grooves allowed by the USGA. They also have a milled face. Other then a tour van Cleveland that has a custom groove...... which you and I can not buy .........the only other wedge that comes with grooves that aggressive is the Taylor made Y cutter.
I have the 56* in the chrome finish, and the 60* in the oil can. These are the best of all the wedges I've played. All around great wedges, out of the sand, chipping around the green, 110 yard full shots. It's true, they will spin like crazy, but a lot of that is still in the hands of the player. They're usually about $109 each, but if you don't want to pay full pop, check out ebay, there's usually a good selection to choose from.
I have all of the MB's and love them. I have had the Cleveland CG10's, and Vokay's also, but I prefer not to spin the ball much, so the Pings really fit well to my game.
If you are looking for maximum spin, go with the Vokay's. If you are looking to spin it pretty well, and have an easier club to hit, the CG10's are for you then.
Just a note: Spin is not necessarily a good thing to have constantly (in my opinion). I would rather fly my shots about 2 yards short the ball bounce forward one bounce, and then make the ball bite. I found that the best wedges out there to do that is the Ping MB's.
Good luck with your decision, and I hope I helped out a little bit on this subject.
I have sm vokeys and cleveland 588s...I like the weight and feel of the vokeys over the clevelands, but can spin the ball better with the clevelands...I think the vokey spin is a bit of hype and prefer them as they will spin back a touch or sit where they land vs the clevelands which tend to get away from me from time to time (land near the hole and spin back 10-15 feet...looks cool, that's about it)...my vokey sand wedge 56/14 is fantastic out of bunkers, my game improved in that area immediately after beginning to use them...(2/3 u/d from bunkers today as a matter of fact!)
Just throwing out a suggestion, but if you haven't looked into the Sonartec t35's I would serious consider them. They too have a milled face with aggressive "yo-yo" grooves as they call them. They spin a ton as well.
But they're best feature is the stock grind that comes with them. I think it's similar to an M-grind. It gives you the required bounce on square faced full shots, but sits very close to the ground when you open it up. Makes it nice and easy to hit those cut lob shots
