Titleist 983 driver info.

Can someone tell me the difference between the Titleist 983 E and 983 K drivers? Had a chance to hit one a while back and loved the solid feel and smaller head size, but not sure what the leter designation was.

The E has a deeper face causing a lower ball flight...and I mean low. The K is built for a higher ball flight. Most people play the K.

Thanks, appreciate it. I must have hit the E as the ball flight was quite low.

No I don't. I used to think it was a model number that went in some kind of order until the 905 came out.

Don't hold me to this, but I believe that the 983 designation was given because it was in the "9" series (like the 975, etc) but it was the first one in the series to meet the .83 COR rating. Hence 983 designation.

Again, I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember reading that somewhere.

Then what does the 05 mean? Is that the year it came out?

Could be. I don't really keep up with Titleist products that much so I couldn't give a definitive answer. Sounds good though!

I think that is the case......however it is not the year the club came out it was the year the prototype came out for tour use.

Hm..I never thought about that. Makes sense though, the new titleist prototypes are being tested this week at the Chysler Classic and their number designation is the 907. So they should probably be out in the coming year?

Yes assuming that they decided to mass produce them. There are a ton of prototypes that get tested on tour and never get mass produced.

Can anyone explain to me the .83 COR rating. What exactly does that mean?
