Callaway Wedges
A buddy of mine has the new Callaway wedges. It is simply amazing the amount of spin he gets now around the greens. Bad lie in rough from about ten yards, no problem he still spins it like crazy and can carry shortside right to the pin and stop it. Been playing with him for years and it is clearly the club that has made the difference. Watching the Ryder cup the announcers kept talking about how good the players were to be able to stop it from short side around the green; no, its the equipment not the players.

I had a set of Callaway Forged+ wedges 56 and 60. I liked them o.k. but the heads felt kind of light to me. I traded them in on a Cleveland CG10 and CG11 and think that I get a good bit better spin with the clevelands. Also the heads feel a little heavier which I like. I havent played the newest Callaway wedges so I cant speak for them.

its not clearly the equipment, i guarantee if you gave me a kmart wedge i could spin it back, its most the technique, could be the equipment but the technique speaks the loudest

I do not think that is the case. The equipment helps but the players can make a rock stop on a dime. And I have hit both the new Callaway and the Vokey Spin Milled and they Vokey spun more. Callaway is just finally catching up to Titleist and Taylormade wedges.

I think it is mostly the equipment. There was an article in Golf Digest saying that the USGA wants to ban the U grooves and use only the V grooves. They tested and said that out of the rough you get X amount more of RPMs with a U groove than a V groove and blah blah. Basically they said that they amount of spin put on the ball is directly linked to the type of grooves(equipment)
IMO on a comparison between players with similar playing abilities it is going to be the equipment that has the biggest effet on the outcome but if you are comparing a handicapped player to a tour player, obviously technique will play the biggest factor
