I would say, yes. Golfsmith's RSSR rates them between 80-90 mph for a 5-iron.
Question... will your friend let you hit them before you buy them? If so, let that be the judge....
It all depends on how you load the shaft I have a pretty good SS but with irons and driver I dont load the shaft well so even though my SS for driver says stiff I need to go regular and for irons I should be using low s or high r but I use A flex and it works best.

Yes he will , i have them here now and i'm going to the range tomorrow hopefully, just had a few practise swings in my garden and they feel alot stiffer than the DG300r shafts i'm used to .

To me, rifle shafts feel different than the DG's. They do play a little stiffer than normal (Golfworks has them at a S+... so between and S and an X). They may be a little stiff for you and as Corwin states, we don't know anything about how you load the club. Do you hit hard at the ball or do you have a nice flowing swing?
I agree...definitely hit them first. I had a friend let me hit his irons when he first got his rifle shafts installed and they felt much different. Would definitely take some getting used to. (I only took two swings with a 7 iron though).
Well i've just come back from the range and i must admit they are too stiff for me i was hitting the ball out of the centre of the club but it was down on distance a felt wooden , so i won't be buying them .
Yea if you are looking at shafts, I would try the s300 if you think the r300 are to soft, or you could try hard stepping an r300 or soft stepping a s300

I'm not sure if they still make them or if you can order them, but I have seen R400 and S200 shafts out on eBay.
You can get R200, R300, or R400 shafts, if you want to order them. The normal R flex shaft is a R300, as it's the middle ground flex, and places like Golfsmith doesn't want to stock all three R flex choices, so they only stock the R300. And then theres the fact that most golfers don't know that the R200 and R400 exist, why should they stock 3 times as many shafts. Same goes for the other flexes, TT makes 3 in each flex range.
