Today my pro told me I should dump my (nearly) new BigBertha's (3months) because I need a 1 inch longer shaft, 4 ° upright lie and stiff flex instead of the regular.... How about that for a bad fitting I got!
Why wife is already shouting "Don't even think of changing!!!".
I think I need to talk to the shop owner and my wife...
If you were fit by someone at Callaway..You can call the Callaway customer service, and they will take them back change everything you need, and they will pay for shipping both ways!! Hows that for Customer Service!
Shoot, don't you at least owe it to yourself to get a third opinion somewhere? I'd have to have a lot of trust in someone to go with their newer fit completely over the previous one. I would sure like to have another closely matching opinion, if only also as further evidence to bring back to the first one that the first one was done erroneously.
They are my first set of irons, so it wasn't a case of a new fit over a previous one.
About the throwing in of new shafts: I think this will be way too expensive. Better to sell them and buy new ones I think.
I agree with all above. Who fit you the first time? Why is the reccomendation now soooooo far away from your first fit? Seems strange to me. Are you a newbie, and your swing has changed that much? If that is the reason, then it gives more weight to those like Oneputt who say get your swing down first, then get fitted. If your swing hasn't changed significantly, I'd get another opinion. If they agree with your pro, I'd seriously complain to the original fitter!
I'm indeed a newbie. When I bought them I had limited experience. Since then I improved a lot due to practicing 3 times a week.
At the time of purchase I had my doubts about shaft length since I'm rather tall. Impact tape at that time showed however I hit with the bottom, so I believed the shop guy...
I think my swing speed has increased and thus the shaft bends more, which makes the lie angle flatter. On the video my pro showed the bending of the shaft, which in his opinion is excessive.
Without seeing the video...i cant make a decision, but every shaft is going to bend during a golf swing, unless ur swinging a poll, but yea it also depends on how you load the golf club, and where you load it! But I would say if you trust your pro, then listen to him!
Problem with the bending is I don't think that's possible: the shafts run through the clubheads and bending in my opinion will break the graphite. Furthermore they 're cast clubheads which I think are tougher to bend.
When they extend shafts, don't they destroy the grips to get them off?
Don't want to be negative, in fact I appreciate your thoughts!
No, You can blow the grips off, but If they are graphite shafts, I would say sell them before they are worth nothing, and get fitted from a local pro or club fitter. It might cost you a bit more, but you can keep a good set of clubs for years. It will be the best decesion you have made...If you want I can fit you into a nice set of NIkes!!!!
