Golf grips and relationship to ball flight

Is there a relationship between golf grips (not how you grip the club) and relationship to ball flight?

If a grip is too small for you versus if the grip is thicker, is there common lore on what can happen to how your ball flies?

I was curious since I got my grips changed. I have noticed that I have had more comfort swinging my clubs and have hit more consistently since I the change. I use an overlap grip when holding the club. The old grips feel like Golf Pride Tour Velvet Half Cord grips.

I changed the irons grips to something slightly softer than the factory grips(Winn G8). It seems to absorb a lot of shock with the mishits (God, I hate winter).

I got Winn Excels on the woods which are very soft and feel great for me. I noticed my grip pressure wasn't as hard as before which has promoted a better swing and control of the club.

I got Winn Oversize Classics on the driver since I tended to grip the driver so hard when I would swing. Now that I have the fatter and softer grips, I don't grip so hard and it feels like it doesn't shift in my hand when I swing.

Supposedly a smaller diameter grip will create more of a draw ball flight than a larger diameter grip. That being said I recently changed my 8-iron grip to a oversize grip ( felt better on my arthritis) and did not notice a difference in ball flight. I did notice a slight improvement in distance (maybe 5 yards or so...) . This could possibly be to not having to hold the club so tightly (arthritis) thus increasing my distance. Hope this helps.. hit hard ...

The bigger the group, the harder it makes it to roll your hands over, so you are not going to get through the ball as much...if you hook the ball, oversize grips can help, but if you are fighting th slice, I would not go oversize!

I can vouch for that...

I demoed a driver last year w/an oversize grip, and everything was high and right.

I have Excel midsize grips on my new hybrids/irons and after a bucket of balls I don't have fingernail marks below my thumb... Then again I probably need to ease up on the grip too!

Thanks. I am fighting a hook for the most part on drivers so I get 'handsy'. The bigger grip although big and soft has helped a lot.
