Good clubs all but you must know the expression "it's not the arrow, it's the indian"...besides, the consumer golf industry being what it is, most of us wind up "having" to get something new...hard to stay away from shiny new sticks...but on the other hand, the very low or scratch hdcprs that I know don't have bags filled with the latest and greatest...they are just plain good...

Yeah, as Big said. You wont need new sticks when you become a scratch. I know a guy that shoots in the 60's regularly and if you looked at his clubs you'd think he was a 40 handicap with so much mud caked in the grooves, plus they old PowerBuilt irons.

It's definitely the Indian in golf...although sometimes we can't help but want the new best thing!

the biggest difference that i see between me and scratch golfers is keeping the ball always in play, hitting greens in regulation, and putting.

With getting to scratch as your goal, you might schedule a session (you may have to pay fo it) with your club pro or at a local golf shop with a PGA pro to have your "club fit" checked. Your current equipment is fine, but if the setup of the clubs is off (length, shaft stiffness, lie, etc), you won't get the max from them and your progress may well be hampered.

There's nothing in your set that would be incompatible with playing decent golf.

But your statement is naive. I am a scratch golfer, and I change equipment like I change my socks. The search never ends for a couple extra yards. A little shorter birdie putts. The perfect golf ball. The putter that won't miss.

That's half the fun.

There, are people with more expensive gear that have a lot higher handicap, and there are scratch golfers with a lot cheaper clubs. Becoming a scratch is all to with the game, though the listed gear looks very nice!!

Yep...You would be FINE with that...AS LONG as it was fit to you, and not off the rack stuff, without being fit....But yea...I could have all of that gear, and go out and shoot a 72 no problem!!

Ouch!

I guess we can only assume that the 8 was really a 15 and the scratch is really a 13.

I crack myself up.....I really do!
