switching shafts...

okay, I've got a graphite design shaft in a taylormade r5 that i would like to put on my callaway ft-3. now, first, is that possible given the hosel differences and what not, and second, is it even worth to do? i mean should i just trade both in and get a new driver set up like i want? thanks for any advice...

Are you wanting to take the shaft out of the TM and put it in the ft-3? Or put a new shaft in the ft-3. If it's a new shaft no problem. Shaft out of the TM no. TM is .350 tip / ft-3 is smaller .335. If ordering new shaft make sure it's .335 Shaft should be about $80. And depending where you purchase your equipment and get your repairs done check out the differents in pricing.

they are both the same size .350 tip. i would buy a new shaft for the ft-3 and leave the r -5 as is. that's me.

here's a chart for tip size http://www.golfshafts.com.au/golf_cl...l_diameter.htm

If they both have the same size tip (0.350 if mikey's right) then it's pretty simple to switch the shaft over, your local pro shop should be able to do it.

Cool

You need to measure the two shaft diameters, and if they are the same, not a problem. If the TM has a .350" shaft, and the FT3 takes a .335" shaft, now you have a problem. Measure them and find out if Mikey is correct, my guess is that he is correct, or he wouldn't have posted it.

If they are the same tip size or if the shaft is small then the tip size for the Callaway yes you can do it. However the shaft will be shorter in the Cally becuase it has that wierd bore-thru hosel.
