HELP! Which cheap fairway wood to buy..Nike T-60 Ignite or TM V-Steel
I am in the market to retire my Adams golf 3 and 5 woods that I could NEVER hit to save my life. I am looking to spend around 100 bucks each wood. The Nike T-60 Ignite or Taylor Made's V-steel model. I swing around 87mph(or so the monitor says so I guess its regular flex for me)but EVERY time I either hook the ball or ***** it up somehow, so I almost never hit my FW woods because I have 0% confidence in them. I am looking for the most forgiving and easy to hit FW woods on this planet, and I saw these two and they got great reviews and heard they where VERY hacker friendly. I shoot consistently in the upper 90's, but if I could hit a FW my round score could be lower. Can someone please help me out with some advice on these clubs or maybe even others. I have Callaway BB 06 irons and absolutley love them. They turned my game around, but I have never swung a BB fairwy wood. Are they as forgiving? Please help a brother out!! Thanks

Reason: language
It's not the oar, it's the rower. I have an old 12* Orlimar FW that I hit straight to a slight fade which I got for $70. I have a hard time hitting a draw with it. I let one of my 70's shooter friends hit it and he can shape it in any direction and trajectory. I thought that it was the club up until that point, but I realized that it was my swing that was causing that. Point of the story is that you can hit any club, whether it's cheap or expensive, and still get the same results.
VJCouples..I agree 100% with you. But I just cant hit these clubs. I can hit all my other clubs, but the fairway woods. Maybe its the shafts, they are VERY whippy and im sure cheap. The clubheads are also VERY small as well. I am in the market anyhow to buy some new woods, so I might as well get me something that will only help me, and not hurt me. That is why I am here asking for advice on a "game improvement" fairway wood.
If you wanted to eliminate the hooks completely you could just get a club that is open a degree as opposed to the retail clubs that are most always closed. The v steels that pros use are different that the retail ones. I know that the tour series is almost always square or a little open.
I am a 5 hc and let me tell you that it was the "oar" for me that caused me to hook. The v steel and the t60 I have currently makes me hook quite a bit as opposed to the more expensive Titleist 906fs and the Bridgestone j33 that I've recently demod. The bridgestone was *1 open and no matter what I did to it, I couldnt hit a hook.
Thanks for the feedback...I am going to look into all the suggestions you all have given me. I will do some homework on which FW wood is the best for game improvement and then go demo the one(s) I come up with. Its not that I hook it always , I am just not confident in the garbage 3 and 5 wood I have now so I want some new ones. Some that are easy to hit and will help my game, via forgiveness, and ease of hitting etc. For some reason I still keep coming back to the V steel. I dunno why. I will also look into the Titleist mentioned above..Thanks!!
Your swing speed is such that you should be hitting a Firm shaft. Also look for a shaft in no matter what you choose to have a lower toque. This will give you better control with a more solid feel. Other than that, where are you setting the ball up in your setup? Forward? Middle? Back?
I would go with the Taylor Made. I have hit their 3 woods in the past and they feel sweet. I was able to hit my fade. As a side note, my Titleist tends to draw a bit, but Im told the new Titleist's are not draw enhanced.

I am setting the ball up about 2-3 balls inside of my left foot. Is this correct
I like my V Steels. There a great club when I can get a hold of the ball. It doesn't matter what wood I have in my hand I always duff the shot. I'm looking to get a hybrid to replace my 5 wood. Infact I'll sell you my V Steel 5wood if your interested. Let me know.
