I am looking into buying a new driver shaft for my Cobra COMP 454. Right now it has the stock Rayon 45 gram (yes that is very light) in a stiff flex with low kick point.
I hit the ball far but want better accuracy. My average drive is around 280 yards but I only hit about 30% of fairways. The misses are about half right and half left.
The shafts I am looking at are the Aldila NV and new Aldila Prototype, Grafalloy COMP NT, and even the Mitsubishi Diamana but am hesitant because of the price (is it really that much better and why?). I am looking at a 65 gram weight in stiff flex. I prefer a straight ball flight with mid tajectory.
Any input or suggestions any of you have would be appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking for a new shaft too. I am stuck between an NV and a UST V2. I have heard the V2 has a lower spin rate so there is less shot dispersion. But the NV is raved by so many people I really am having trouble deciding between the too. I am looking for 65S myself, it might just come donw to the flip of a coin.

I have both and although I like the lower boring trajectory of the nv, the v2 does seem to impart less spin and on top of that the v2 has a lower degree of torque...so solid at impact...my vote is for the v2 but I will say that since changing I have had problems keeping the ball as low as I'd like...
Well I am currently using an NVS so low ball flight is not too important as long as it is not ballooning I will go with the V2. Thanks for swinging my opinion.
Stop by your local fitter. He should be able to help with some of your questions. I do like my NV shaft, very consistent flight pattern and a great shade of green.
I went with the comp nt in 85 gram weight. My ballstriking improved a lot and I'm hitting it very solid, but when my swing is off it really does'nt matter which shaft I use.
