Replace 3 iron with?

My girlfriend has a 3 iron that she never uses. Can't hit it. Same with her driver. I was thinking about a 15* 3 wood and a 7 wood as a couple of replacement clubs to try. What say you? Thanks...

A hybrid in the 21* range should work well for her.

I've had a lot of luck with the Wishon 321LI and Maltby KE4. Both are very easy to get in the air, forgiving and easy to swingweight for varying lengths.

Seplace the driver with a high loft driver in 12-15 degree. It'll work better than a hree wood off the tee due to it's size and forgiveness. The 3 iron is begging for a nice 5 wood or even a 7 wood which replaces a 4 or 5 iron.

I use a 17* hybrid instead of a 3-iron.

I would say try a 17 or 18* 5 wood as a driving club or if u have the cash go for a HT FT-3 or X460 (the FT-3 HT is 16* and the X460 HT is 15*) and for the 3 iron replacement i would say try either a 7/9 wood in teh 22-24* area or a 4 iron hybrid (the extra loft should help as it would be about the same loft as a women's 3i).

Nobody should have a 3 iron unless they swing +100mph. Ditto for the 4 iron. And for most women, a 5 iron is a bad idea.

What's her game like? Like most men, it would be useful to know a little bit about distance, what clubs she hits well, etc.

I think a 3 wood is a terribly overrated club for a woman. Stiofan is right on with the higher lofted driver, so a 3 wood doesn't make much sense.

My girlfriend has the taylormade miscela set, which has hybrid 4-6 and wide sole 7-PW. She likes them. Definitely more comfortable with the hybrids. The rest of her set includes a 14* cobra driver and a Cobra 5 wood.

Good luck.

I would say go with the 7 wood to replce the 3-iron, but how good is she with 4 and 5 iron as someone mentioned above. Might not be a bad idea to change those out as well with a couple of hybrids.

If she lacks distance go with teh 7 wood. If she does not have a distance problem go with the hybrid because they are better to hit out of trouble, ruff, sand ect.

hybrids are getting used more by the better players as well. I had no problem hititng my 3 iron say 75% of the time, but with the hybrid its up in the 90-95% which saves about a stroke or two a round which is great. They are just so easy to hit, why make the game harder then it has to be.
