Question Callys X hot or Big Bertha 2004 3 wood for a high handicapper?? Advice!

Ok I am looking to you all for some more advice. You have been VERY helpful to me in the past so here it goes...

I am looking to purchase a 3 wood VERY soon. Its between the X series or the Big Bertha 04-05 model(you can get them cheap right now). Which one out of the two do you think is the most forgiving? I have the 04 BB irons and love em! They are my strong point of my game. But I need a good 3 wood and out of the two they are a hard choice. I just want the club that is going to be the easiest to hit to help my game get lower into the 90's, and maybe soon break the 80's. I need the help of a nice 3w to do it. I dont care about flash and cutting edge stuff, I just want it to perform easily for a high handicapper. I know X series got GREAT reviews but so did the BB series of 04-05(s2h2). So its a toss up..What do you golf rewind gurus think?? Let me know ok..Thanks!!!!

TYPO: I see in my topic sentence I put the "Hot" model of the X series, I want the regular, non-hot wood. Plain Jane X series..my bad,lol

Of those two, I think the X series is a touch easier to hit. Not too much difference between them, but if I remember correctly, the Berthas have a slightly deeper face, which, while beneficial from the tee, will hinder you a bit more from the deck.

I have the bb 3 wood 04 and I can't stand it...my course features hard ground and tight lies and it is a bear to hit off the deck...off the tee is fine though...recently got a newish 3 wood (see sig) and it is much better for me all around...why not hit them both plus some others and see what speaks to you?

I've never hit the X, but I have the BB 04 model. I have it in R flex, while every other club in my bag is stiff. The regular flex allows me to take a smooth slow swing for better contact off the deck. I don't hit it too well off the tee due to the flex, but I always hit driver unless the extra distance runs me into trouble.

Check your game. If you are in the mid to upper 90s, you shouldn't be hitting your 3-wood off the deck anyways. Go for a 5 wood instead.

I hate those low profile 3 woods off the tee. When I bought it, it was between the BB and the cobra 3 wood.

yeah I usually ALWAYS use a 5w off the deck. I usually swing around 85-90mph (at least my driver which is stiff flex) But i try to slow it down a bit to make good contact with my smaller headed fairway woods. I am usually the same way about just going with a easy drive or a stinger off the tee if I dont need alot of distance instead of rolling the dice with my current fairway woods. I am drawn to the X for some reason...Keep the advice coming it is helping..Then I will go down and demo some clubs..Plus I am a diehard Callaway lover.

I would say ge the X Hot for use off the tee, and then a hybrid club for long shots off the fairway.

get the x woods. as a high handicapper, you need a wood that is easy to hit off the tee and the fairway/rough without sticking 6 woods in your bag. as a high handicapper, you need to work on short game more. i used to have a pitching wedge, a gap wedge and a 60 degree. i recently got rid of them and now have pitching, 56*, and a 60* and my handicap has dropped.

my woods:a driver, 16 degree and a 20.5 degree. worry about the chip pitch and lob more than the distance clubs, because that is where you're gonna shave strokes off of your game, trust me.

My irons and shortgame are my strongpoint. I am just needing help in the woods section. My current woods are OLD and I dont trust them. I love my Hibore driver but that is a driver and not a 3/5/7 wood. Just this past Friday I shot a 94 but almost every shot that needed a FW, I had to use something else or strategically lay up, which has also helped my game alot instead of going for the ego driven shots that can be disasterous. Im leaning towards the X series..

I would definitely go with the Callaway x series 3 wood. Be careful what shaft you select. I usually play a stiff shaft, but with the stock fujikura shaft I needed a regular flex.
