Titleist 905r On Ebay

Im thinking of buying a new driver. There are some really awesome deals on ebay on the Titleist 905R. Some of them look kind of fishy but some of them have great feedback and others have been happy with the drivers they have purchased. What shaft would you reccomend in this driver? I know that a launch monitor is the best way to decide but I dont have that luxury right now. Just want some input on shafts with this driver. My swing speed is around 100 I tend to hit the ball kind of high. My current driver is a Taylor Made r7 Quad HT with Aldila NV 65s. I hit it pretty well but it has a dent in it from a crash with another driver.

What the heck are you expecting from the new driver? You already have a R7 Quad. I doubt anything will change of significance with the 905R.

You have top of the line equipment already, don't touch anything, unless of course your struggling.

Not expecting a miracle. My r7 got in a wreck with someones practice swing the other day. I like my equipment to LOOK top notch. Im due for another anyway, Ive had the r7 for a long time. I get the fever for new equipment pretty often. The big dent in the r7 helps to move this along. Plus I've heard a lot of good things about the 905R.

I wonder what they would charge to fix the dent? Still thinking about the Titleist, nothing wrong with having two good drivers, right?

fwiw:
My driver ss ranges from 95-99 with smooth tempo. I had a Clev. 400 10.5deg launcher with a 652 speeder Reg. flex and could not keep the ball low enough for max. distance. It was ok, but I needed a lower flight.

I then went and tried the 905r 10.5 deg aldila and the 905r 9.5 deg. aldila, both in the stiff. The ball flight is just right now with the 9.5deg and distance is much better. The aldila stock stiff in the Tit. 905r is really a pretty sweet feeling club, even at my ss.

Also, when I was trying these clubs out, I would tend to hit the 10.5 more towards the heel and the 9.5deg right on the sweet spot, so there is a difference in clubs. Be sure to take a trial run before buying. fwiw.

Good luck, but I'm pretty sure if you get the 905r, you'll be satisfied.

They are the best driver Titleist has ever made. Remember that it is a full bore thru head meaning any shaft you put in it will play one step stiffer, the torque will be lower and you will get a lower ball flight. So if you play a stiff now you should get a Reg flex in a bore thru and if you hit it high you will not with this club.

I had the R7 quad. It was just marginally better (I played it neutral) than the Cally 454 (and R5)that I had before it. I went to a course that had the 905r as a demo and took it out with me - first to the range. Here it not only felt better on the swing and strike, but it consistantly carried farther out there and the flight was beautiful to watch. It seemed easier to hit consistantly and then after the round (where it took over full duty), I bought it. It was hard to convince myself that this was better but it really was. I was able to sell the R7 on consignment the very next day, which took the sting out of my guilt from impulse buying. Anyway, the shaft in the r7 (9.5º) was the tm stock stiff, which always felt a bit boardy to me in the first place. The 905r (9º) has an aldila nv stiff - a very nice shaft that played perfectly to my 105-108mph swing speed. The only thing I had to adjust was tee height. With this club it played better teed slightly lower (relatively speaking).
I cant see myself ever giving up on this club and have no reason to look around again (for sure this time).

I'd be careful with some auctions on ebay. There have been a lot of problems with hijacked accounts (even ones with very good feedback) so I'd be careful. For example, I've seen some new 905r with BIN prices in the $120-150, which to me seems fishy

Also, the problem with buying on ebay is that you have no assurance of open, neutral, or closed clubfaces. I personally would get fitted and then buy the club there to verify authenticity of the club.

I understand your issue with dinged up clubs, I can't stand looking down and seeing blemishes. I replaced my VSteel with r7 TP because of that same reason.
