Opened my eyes to technology advancements in golf....WOW

All I can say after my short visit to the driving range today is WOW!

A quick history of my golf 'career'. I've been playing on and off for the past 15 years (I'm 25), but I've been playing a lot more often over the past year-and-a-half. I played with an old set of Northwestern irons up until about two years ago, when I picked up a used set of 1990 Titleist DCI irons and a TaylorMade R5 Dual. That's when I noticed my game started to pick up and I've been a pretty solid 10 handicap for the past 6 months or so.

Well, I've been very intrigued by the newer clubs - forged player's irons, hybrids, etc. I finally gave in and picked up the following demo clubs this afternoon:

Mizuno MP-60 6 Iron
Cleveland CG2 6 Iron
Callaway X Tour 6 Iron
Callaway FT Hybrid 23*

I can honestly say I didn't hit *one* bad shot with any of these clubs.

The biggest surprise to me was the hybrid (maybe because I have never hit a hybrid before). I was hitting the FT Hybrid 220-230 yards with a slight draw - it was unbelievable.

As far as the irons go, I liked all of them - but the Mizuno MP-60s take the prize for sure. The club felt like butter nearly every hit. I had a couple ball strikes that weren't in the sweet spot and the ball lost a little yardage but still went straight about 165 yards as opposed to the 175-180 I was hitting when I found the sweet spot. After hitting the Mizuno a number of times I pulled out my DCI 6 iron and still hit it like I normally do, but it was wasn't as forgiving and the sweet spot seemed to be half the size of that of the Mizuno.

After trying these different clubs, I will have a set of Mizuno MP-60 5-PW and one or two hybrids in the bag within the next few weeks.

I'm playing a round tomorrow morning and all I can say is I'm going to find every reason to hit a 6 iron or the hybrid.

These clubs really opened my eyes to the newer technology available in golf - I'm excited to move into the 21st century with my golf game and hopefully see my handicap drop well into the single digits.

I went to a big demo day at my driving range and I still haven't hit a club that feels as good as the mizunos...mp 60 and mp 32s are the best clubs I have ever hit...
