Ok so I was wrong all the local courses I play have 4 stars, and even some of the houston courses I wanna play next year are all on there. But the cheap model it $230, which way would be cheaper range finder or sky caddie?
Havent looked into the pricing on the range finders.

Range Finder with the slope factored into the distance is actually more than the GPS devices (325 vs 250). However, the GPS devices usually charge you a $30 a year fee for accessing their database, nothing for the range finder.
Some GPS devices are simpler to use than other GPS devices, but only hold 1 course at a time. The range finders are course independent and can give exact yardage to the flag. The GPS devices give yards to the front and back (and maybe center), but not to that day's pin. GPS devices can give you yardages to things over a hill (blind tee shots) that range finders cannot.
I guess if you play many courses and possibly play 2 in a day, the range finder ideal. The GPS device is better if you play the same course all the time. I just don't like paying anyone a membership fee each year.
My advice would be to wait some time and buy a used range finder or GPS device or buy one after the next model comes out. The current prices are a bit too high. Be patient. It's like buying a Taylor Made when they just come out (not too bright)...just wait a release and all is well.
Sweet, thanks thats the kinda info I neeed. Thanks, I dont need anything fancy just some of the courses I play dont have good yardage markers, a Tom Fazio course I play has nothing but a white pole that is 150 from the center of the green. Really Tough!!!!!! Hard day of pulling clubs

Answer: Yes. If you do not want a membership and your course is not already available, you can record the front, center and back of each green with your SkyCaddie’s quick set up module included at no extra charge. By investing less than 10 seconds on the center of each green when you play your next round at your favorite course, you will never look for another sprinkler head or marker. You can also record the front and back of each green if you so desire in a few more seconds. After this simple set up, turn on the SkyCaddie and it will automatically provide distances to each green for the entire round without touching a button. It’s literally a “virtual sprinkler head” everywhere you can hit a ball. However, most golfers have chosen one of our modestly priced memberships because of its incredible value. The membership offers so much value for such a modest price(starting at $29.95/year), and our experience has shown that almost all golfers elect to be a member even if their course is not yet available.
range finder is the best investment ive made for golf.
i have the bushnell slope version, i wish i would have gotten the regular version though. very very accurate. +- 1 yard.

I got this one from ebay and have been very happy with it. It does not cost much, never have to worry about losing it. It is constructed ruggedly. I bought 4 of them there and gave to my golf buddies as good will. Everyone loves it.

I'm about to buy a sky caddie. I've been going back and forth between sky caddie and the bushnell range finder, but came to the sky caddie as my final decision. I checked a lot of courses around that I play and nearly every one that I checked was available. Plus I figured with the sky caddie, if I have a big up hill shot or something where I cannot see the flag, the laser range finder wont do me much good as I wont have anything to sight in on, although that might be rare occasion, I can think of more than a few times that happens on courses I play. Plus the sky caddie you can mark different parts of the course yourself and store that info for the next time which is pretty cool.

Yea I know $29.95 thats case of Corona.
At least someone from Sky golf is posting here. I wrote a question to the Customer service and didn't get a response. That really turned me off. I got responses from Ben Hogan and Guerin Rife in the same day.
I am thinking of the iGolf, Sureshot GPS (Color GPS) and the Sky caddie.
A rangefinder needs a line of sight. It doesn't look like the users have much trouble or take too much time but they don't use it as much on every shot as a GPS user.
